Chester Horse Racing Tips 7th May 08
May 7, 2008
Morning, chips and chipettes. I found an e-mail this morning from the lads at The Daily Punt asking me to rename this, ‘Donald Keys donkeys’ the cheeky buggers. I didn’t even know my name was an anagram or whatever you call it. And some chap e-mailed asking if I was related to Harry bloody Redknapp. God know’s where that one came from. On to business though.
We’re starting at Chester today. Chester racing gets me a bit emotional as, when I was a boy, my mum would read me stories about Chester racecourse. I always remember how it started, ”The Racecourse is a 1 mile left-handed track with tight bends.” It’s not exactly Hans Christian Andersen but I loved it all the same. Ta mum.
So, after the magical rainbows and pots of gold of Tuesday, what’s in store for Wednesday? Well, I wouldn’t normally do this but today I am. I’m going to lie to you. Today we can expect more of the same. More magic and wonder. Happiness and joy. Yep. Let’s start the day in a positive frame of mind as positive thinking is what will see us through the anticipated horrors of today and Thursday. I’ve said too much. But be prepared is all. Wednesday is Twilight Zone day and we should expect the unexpected. Bugger. It’s Tales of The Unexpected day then.
1.45 As usual I’m swerving the short priced favourite completely and trying to expect the unexpected with Just The Lady currently @ 17.00’s on Betfair or 14/1 with my old pal Betfred. Nice draw will help our place claims here. I believe it can fly. Hopefully in the right direction. Really quickly.
2.15 Tough one this so I’ll have to call upon the Donald Keys hunchuition and say a little prayer to the God of tipsters (talking to myself again?). The favourite looks tough and Dancing Abbie is worrying me a bit but I think the lovely Queen Of Naples can challenge. 8.00’s @ betfair just now and can hopefully place at least.
2.45 Som Tala has tickled my brain a little at not bad odds. 19.00 @ betfair and 16/1 with Fred and Bluesq. This animal is a decent e/w shout and having four legs and fully functioning internal organs is a bonus. There are no real negatives screaming at me.
3.15 I hate when all my fancies are fancied by everyone else too. Difficult to see a major shock here but today is weird Wednesday and I’ve used my extraordinary powers of perception to pick out….. ah bugger. One of the favourites. Invincible Force @ 8.4 - dual course winner, Seb Sanders, good draw, fully functioning internal organs. It has alot going for it. Just don’t die before the finish.
4.00 I hate myself. I hate myself. I’ll take the 3/1 @ betfair for Kings Charm - a potentially lovely animal that could potentially win. Or potentially not. It’s all about potential. What does that even mean? It has a chance and that’s enough. Potentially.
4.35 I’m going to expect the unexpected in the last one at Chester. A bit of faith, hunchuition, Donald Keys experience, skill, charm, tarot cards and good looks all coming in to play. My gut has busted, my entrails lie splattered across the keyboard and I’m literally touching my own inards to bring to you Leamington @ 9.6 currently @ betfair. 8/1 with Ladbrokes, Paddy Power, Betfred and Skybet.
Now don’t go sending in hate mail after this lot all bomb as I’ll be back to form by Friday and looking for the usual storming Saturday. Feel free to send me nice things though. Cigarettes always appreciated. Been smoking like a chimney since giving up the heroin.
Donald Keys donkeys. Cheeky b*st*rds.

If your free bet also wins at odds of 4/1 or more, you qualify for a free bet on the next live Channel 4 race. Keep backing those winners and we’ll keep giving you free bets!
Wednesday’s Channel 4 races:
# 1.45 Chester
# 2.15 Chester
# 2.45 Chester
# 3.15 Chester
Offer applies to the FIRST single bet placed by a customer on each live Channel 4 race following the final declarations (where more than 1 selection in the same race is placed on the same bet slip, the first selection is deemed to be the one which is highest on the bet slip). The 4/1 limit refers to the adjusted odds after any dead-heat, Rule 4 or unnamed joint/co-favourite. If your return is greater than the total stake then no refund will be given. Maximum free bets per customer £50 per race. Free bet winnings exclude stake. Bets must be paid for and placed in the usual way. If your free bet loses, your stake will be refunded to your account within one hour of the race finishing.
In the event of Channel 4 not showing all races live, free bets will still stand on the scheduled live Channel 4 races.
If you are entitled to a free bet, and Channel 4 broadcast an additional non-scheduled race as the next live race, the following will apply:
Your free bet will be the first bet you place on any additional live race which takes place before the next scheduled race, or next scheduled live Channel 4 race.
If all originally scheduled Channel 4 races are not shown (eg due to abandonment), and Channel 4 substitute an alternative programme of races, then any qualifying free bets must be placed on the next live Channel 4 race.
