Re: Carling Cup - 20th & 21st December

I know kegman posted the bbc thingies but theres more added and updated-

Wigan v Bolton
Wigan manager Paul Jewell is again likely to be without Josip Skoko, Stephane Henchoz and David Connolly for the Carling Cup quarter-final.
Skoko (groin), Henchoz (dead leg) and Connolly (Achilles) missed Saturday's 3-0 win at home to Charlton and are rated doubtful for the Wanderers game.
Bolton defender Tal Ben Haim is available after serving a one-game ban.
Full-back Ricardo Gardner could also come into contention following a hamstring strain.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Wigan boss Paul Jewell:
"People talk about the way Bolton play long ball, but it's an unfair tag because they have some good players.
"They don't get enough credit for how good they are, which I think irks Sam Allardyce, who has turned them into one of the top six clubs in the country."

Bolton boss Sam Allardyce:
"We want to finish off a major six days in style.
"Confidence is high, we are dominating teams and punishing the opposition.
"The squad is excited, it's starting to believe we can achieve more than they thought we could."

Birmingham v Man Utd
Birmingham goalkeeper Maik Taylor comes in for suspended Nico Vaesen, while keeper Colin Doyle is recalled to the bench from a Millwall loan spell.
Striker Emile Heskey could return after missing the last game because his partner was due to give birth.
Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson will check on the fitness of Louis Saha and Alan Smith.
Both men suffered from viruses and Ferguson will want to be sure they are 100% fit before he selects them again.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Birmingham chairman David Gold:
"I know loads of people will be saying 'I'll be happy to lose on Tuesday as long as we can win the next three league games'.
"But there is no doubt that winning any game is a habit.
"If we win this, it sets the players up for the Christmas games and the confidence starts coming back."

Manchester United goalkeeper Tim Howard:
"Edwin van der Sar said he needs to be on his toes and that's the case.
"We have some really good professionals who are fighting for a place. Everyone is training well and watching their backs. That's the way it should be."
