Re: League 2, 2nd & 3rd Jan

No worries mate.

I just decided to "fry" some pasta and whilst I was working out how to ignite the camping stove (bachelor pad-no kitchen / food in the fridge until said girl arrived) damn near set myself on fire and have gashed my elbow on the door trying to escape the flame. Oh well.

Right, Cheltenham. I was surprised that they've made it up to fifth and it's a shame that Tote must've got stung on their top 7 markets last season because if they could sign a goal scorer (I've never rated ex Bristol City Kay kay Odaake (sp) but he had a good game against Chester, or Damian Spencer) they could make the play off as manager John Ward has success at this level. Still, I believe Stephen Gillespee will score goals at this level but he seems to be used as a sub a lot lately.

From their offical site:

Ward calls for one more big effort

John Ward interviewed before the away trip to Stockport County on Bank Holiday Monday:

"We saw in the game against Shrewsbury that they looked a little bit fresher than us having missed one of the games over Christmas and New Year. Now we are going to Stockport who have had two less games than us so I think it becomes a bit more difficult for us. But the resolve of the players is first class and their attitude and ability is really impressing me at the moment. If we can get one more big effort from this really tough programme then a win up there would be fantastic.

"Stockport have a new caretaker manager in charge and it leaves us a bit blind going into the game. We'd hoped to see a game where Jim Gannon had picked his side and we haven't seen that [their game on Saturday was called off]. The only thing we know is that Bramble is out because he got sent off in the last game and when there is a change of manager and things are altering in the football club it gives the players a wee bit of impetus to say 'here we go, we can start our season now.' We're going to have to be ready for it and deal with it. But if we can try our best and work hard and show a bit of ability then we will have the chance to get a result.

"We trained Sunday and had a bit of a head count. Shane Duff is struggling and Grant McCann won't be fit and available. There are other knocks and bumps which have got less than 24 hours to recover from but the squad is good and the rest of the players are fit. If anybody comes in, as we saw against Shrewsbury with David Bird, they are fit and ready and coming into a side that is doing well. That has to be a big lift for them as well.

"We managed to get Steven Gillespie's loan extended to the end of January. Bristol City were really good to us with that. Steven has the ability to get a goal, he has brightness around the penalty box and a bit of pace as well and if we can do that for us a little bit longer we will be delighted.

Hope this helps.
