From the jailender which got it from the p&J:

Magic and McGarry to Leave County

With the turn of the new year, the speculation over the transfer market normally climaxes, and this season is no different. Ever since the club financial problems were revealed in October speculation has been rife that as many as six County players will have to leave this month. And only two days into the transfer window reports in today’s papers say that Steven McGarry and Majiec Nuckowski are free to leave the club.

Majiec Nuckowski who was a signing by previous manager John Robertson only joined the club in August. But during that time he has only managed to make 14 appearances, six of those being from the substitutes bench, but the statistic which has probably brought about his release is the fact he has only managed to score one goal in the last six months.

The other player being told he is free to leave the club is Steven McGarry. McGarry is another player who has failed to hold down a regular first team place making only 18 appearances this season – five of them from the bench, but again it seems the low scoring ratio of only two goals in that 18 matches has lead to his release.
Rumours regarding McGarry exit from the club have existed for several weeks now, with it being suggested that he will return to his previous club St. Mirren, rumours have even suggested that St. Mirren have been paying his wages for the last month which has resulted in him not being part of the squads for the recent matches.

County manager Gardner Spiers has been quoted in the press as saying “Obviously we are top heavy in terms of having forwards at the club and, with the club's well documented financial difficulties right now, it was the easiest area of the team we could cut back on.”……. “I am sure Steve and Maciej will be disappointed it has not worked out for them, but it would be better for them if they found new clubs.”……. "At this moment it is unlikely they will be replaced as we have to balance the books, but we wish both well in their futures."

It is also thought that over the course of the next month that there will be further players released from their contracts as the club continues to try and cut the players wage bill.
