Re: Cash Players
Hi Kiko,
I am most definately a cash game player as opposed to a tournament player. Yes you can win a lot more with the 1st prize in a tourney than in a similar stakes cash game - but I believe there is more luck involved in tourneys, and in the longer run bigger wins to be had by the good cash game players than the decent tourney players. I generally either play full ring (10 man) games or extremely short (HU or 3 handed) cash games. Playing tight is not a bad thing at all with cash games so dont worry kiko, it wont win at the highest stakes, nor does it translate very well to the 6 handed tables, but if you can get down a good tight aggressive game you will definately show a good profit in the long run at the 10 man cash tables (and indeed slaughter the 2/4 and below NL on the net). Indeed when I play full ring I generally play TAG and HU or SH I play very LAG.
You have to be more adept at playing with deeper stacks in relation to the blinds than tournaments. This means you just have get better at reading what your opponent is giving you action with and when your hand is good or not. In the late stages of a tourney a raise preflop can commit a good % of your stack and make TPTK a monster - however in cash games you will have only commited a tiny % of your stack preflop usually, and must learn to play the following streets of poker well.
Dont worry about having to loosen up, just make sure you stick to being very aggressive with your good hands and try not to give too much action to other players (or stay "married" to hands") when you are obviously beaten. Stick to the 10 man tables and learn a tight game - you will start to win money and the rest can come later.
