Home team does not appear to make things happen. Rather they are" hoping for things to happen", much like WBA too. That's why they are in this terrible predicament. I have been on the plus side with Portsmouth as they make things happen for themselves bar the unfortunate away loss at Charlton over the weekend.
Also, the players as you correctly observed, do not seem to be very enthusiastic at all,except for a few like Pennant and co;...
It all adds up to a good chance for an Away Win for Blackburn to make up for their recent loss to Liverpool.
