Re: Japanese J-League: 3rd May

Ventforet Kofu v FC Tokyo
MF Kuranuki out for long term.
Kofu may be tough but their lack of quality is apparent at times.

Tokyo is playing on and off football, sometimes very well, sometimes just plain boring.

This one has the making of a draw game, if Tokyo can play well they should be able to get the win, however Kofu at home is strong and always very motivated to upset a few teams.

Kashima Antlers v Oita Trinita
Kashima had a relatively easy game against Avispa in the weekend.
MF Nishiyama suspended.
Oita had problems breaking the JEF defence in the weekend, and they are in a little bit of slump recently.

Oita beat Kashima last midweek in the cup game, so Kashima will be looking for some payback this time. In any case the Antlers at home is too strong for Oita. With the added motivation of being able to go top if Urawa screws up in Chiba, Kashima will win this one. 1.80 isnt worth it for Kashima(-1), I rather prefer Kashima(-1 ¼) at higher odds.

Shimizu S-Pulse v Cerezo Osaka

DF Takagi suspended and DF Aoyama injured.
Shimizu is playing very well recently, but missing Takagi and Aoyama will be crucial.
Cerezo needs the self-confidence to win matches and not stop playing after scoring the opening goal.

This looks like a draw game, Shimizu will not play too offensive football as both their first choice center backs are out. Cerezo desperately needs the wins already so they are expecting to get a result here. Odds aren’t good enough. I’ll happily take Cerezo(+1/2) at 2.15+.

Kyoto Purple Sanga v Albirex Niigata
Kyoto managed to steal the point in Osaka in the weekend, which was a great result. However so far their performances hasn’t been impressive to me.
A great game in beating Gamba, but perhaps Gamba was too tired to create much.

Kyoto should be able to get the win here at home. Despite Niigata’s win over Gamba, they aren’t really a strong side. But well I am not one that trust Kyoto.

Avispa Fukuoka v Kawasaki Frontale
Avispa has one problem, that is they don’t know how to play football after they get the lead most of the time. In any case when they score first, the opponent plays so offensively that their defence cannot hold most of the time.
Frontale were held to a draw at home against the strong Shimizu, but well Frontale has a bad record against them.

Avispa will fight it out to get a win here, but in the end they just wont be able to stop Frontale’s attacks. The odds aren’t too good however. Value lies on Avispa, but I just cant trust them against Frontale.

Omiya Ardija v Sanfreece Hiroshima
Omiya having morale problems after getting beat by Urawa in the Saitama derby and that they still cant find their first choice striking partner. Now Gral is fit and he should play but I still don’t know who his partner will be.
Hiroshima will be looking for a win here, they played well against Marinos and should have deserves something, but Marinos always has the potential to steal wins at home.

Sanfreece definitely can get something in this match, they have improved a lot since the previous coach resigned. As said they have talented young players that will give problems to Omiya. However I really like to see more of Sanfreece’s results.
No Bet.

JEF Ichihara v Urawa Reds
JEF still unbeaten in 8 games and looking to stretch it further.

MF Suzuki suspended, GK Tsuzuki, DF Horinouchi, MF Santos injured. DF Tanaka and MF Yamada doubtful.
Urawa finally has their front 3 strikers back, with Ono and Ponte returning after injury and suspension. However their defence is bad with those injuries.

With Urawa’s missings, JEF will be looking to get the win here at home. Urawa always has problems playing against JEF, with 4 matches last season and 3 draws and a JEF win. In any case JEF has the potential to get the win here.
JEF Ichihara(+1/4) 5/10 2.085

Nagoya Grampus v Yokohama Marinos
Still Grampus’s problem is that they cant score enough goals to win a match.
Marinos’s performance has been lucky of late, with penalties saving their result most of the time.
This one has the draw written all over it, both teams will be keen to not the lose here, and that both teams has pretty tight defence. A 1-1 draw for me. I would prefer Grampus(+1/2) with same opening odds.
No Bet.
