Re: Irish League Cup : 8th - 10th May

Match preview from www.droghedaunited.ie

It will be back to business on Monday when we travel to Dundalk for the second round League Cup encounter. While we came away from Tolka on Thursday night with a few mental bruises, the good news is that apart from Stephen Bradley, who has a hamstring strain, no one else has been added to our injured list. The unlucky Bradley has been forced to pull out of the Irish Under-21s trip to Azerbaijan and misses another chance to show his talents on a higher stage.

So, it will be a case of gathering ourselves and concentrating on the match in hand. There is no doubt that we ran into a brick wall on Thursday in Tolka, but there will be plenty of pride at stake on Monday against the Lilywhites (or is it the boys in green ?). Since our last visit to Oriel for the pulsating Malone Cup Final, we have played seventeen matches in twelve weeks, which was a punishing schedule, and maybe on Thursday we also ran out of some steam, or we had the monkey on our backs too long, something else. So, while the Leagu Cup is an important competition, this may be an ideal opportunity for Paul to give the likes of Sami, Derek T. Sean Williams etc a good 90 minute run out, because it will not be long before the weekend comes and we are off to the Showgrounds to face a Sligo team who held Shels to a draw.

Shane Barrett's injury is improving and he has started running again and may come into the reckoning for the trip to Sligo, which is great news.

So, its the Railway Bar for me at about 6, swally a few jugs of the amber nectar, a nice feed of chips in the greasy spoon and on to the theatre of dreams (drog dreams, that is). See yiz above !!.
