Monaghan United v Bohemians preview
Century Homes Park, Tuesday 9 May, Kick-off 8pm
Monaghan United will be without Eoghan O'Shea while midfielder Shane Harte is still struggling with a hamstring injury. Jimmy Fullam is available for selection against the team with which he was a double-winner, his suspension for his sending-off does not apply until the next league game.
Bohemians are without injured striker Stephen Ward, with veteran goalscorer Vinny Arkins continuing upfront in his place. Left-back Des Byrne is also an injury doubt, otherwise Bohemians have a full squad to choose from.
This will be a very tough test for Mick Cooke's men. Bohemians played a full-strength team in the last round against Athlone Town, and with a Setanta Sports Cup place available for the winners of this competition the League Cup is getting the full attention of player-manager Gareth Farrelly. Mick Cooke is likely to ring the changes after a disappointing display in Kildare, with Paul Whelan and Stephen Finnegan expected to make their first starts of the 2006 season. It should be an entertaining game, and United players will be keen to impress against their opponents who will include Kevin Hunt, former Ireland international Farrelly and Ireland Under-19 captain John-Paul Kelly.
