We all know Paula's problems over the past few months, but for her to commit to the race is a very positive sign. After the debacle of Athens, she needs to atone, and I'm sure that unless she is near full fitness, she surely wouldnt embarass herself again? Ok she aint prepared correctly, but a marathon, in a difficult environment, itmay not be the worst thing in the world..
She does appear quietly confident I think in the interviews.. She is obviously not bullish about how she might do, but at the same time she obviously doesnt have the pressure she has had over the past few years..
Ok you could argue that it is her last chance at olympic glory, but surely she would enter unless she felt she could perform..Heck - she is the world record holder ! Could be the time..
I would love to see her get a medal anyhow, and maybe this is what she wants..
Paddys have just pushed her out to 8/1 from 7/1, but that is a near insult surely for the record holder..?
I reckon she can get a medal (and in some ways I think that is her desperate aim), and therefore I have risked a small each way on her at odds that surely shouldnt be so high...
