'Proto' which I named myself after, is LEGAL MONOPOLY (for the government's
tax revenue), and those who bet on the foreign betting company/web site
can be punished by law (how poor we are!). As a result they make terribly
poor odds (e.g. the odds for the Reds' win this weekend are at least 1.40
in European major betting company but here they are just 1.33). To make
matters worse, we don't have enough information to punt and don't have
option to choose single match, either (we should bet at least on 2 matches).
You guys might agree with that this is a real COMEDY and feel inclined to

I am interested in the match Liverpool vs Man city. Basically the Reds are
likely to win, of course ; but I've heard that Xavi Alonso as well as 3 more
players (including Sissoko injured last week) were injured and are expected
to be out this weekend. So I'm not sure it'll be a blow to the Red's midfield
or not ; please give me some advice if it's best to be left or not. I'll really
appreciate your advice.

Hi Proto - welcome to the Daily Punt.

This is what the BBC say about Liverpool vs Man City

Liverpool striker Craig Bellamy should be in the squad even though he is involved in a court case in Cardiff.

They are without Xabi Alonso and Mark Gonzalez (hamstring), while Stephen Warnock (groin) misses out and Jermaine Pennant (hamstring) is doubtful.

Manchester City's Dietmar Hamann has recovered from a thigh injury, though he will probably be on the bench.

Trevor Sinclair (knee) and DaMarcus Beasley (ankle) are out and Sun Jihai is troubled by a hamstring injury.

Liverpool (from): Reina, Finnan, Carragher, Hyypia, Agger, Riise, Luis Garcia, Pennant, Gerrard, Zenden, Bellamy, Crouch, Kuyt, Fowler, Dudek, Guthrie, Hammill, Peltier.

Man City (from): Weaver, Isaksson, Hart, Richards, Onuoha, Dunne, Distin, M Mills, Thatcher, Jordan, Johnson, Vassell, Barton, Reyna, Hamann, Samaras, Corradi, Dickov, Sturridge.

606 DEBATE: Give your thoughts on the match

Liverpool striker Peter Crouch:
"The most important thing is to get our Premiership form right. Maybe it hasn't been up to the standard we have set and certainly our away form has to be better.

"In the Champions League our form has been good so hopefully we can take that into the Premiership.

"Our home form is good and we want to keep that going. We do have to take that form with us away from home."

Manchester City boss Stuart Pearce:
"I sense a spring in the step of the players.

"We have done well in the last couple of matches and beating Liverpool at Anfield would give us an immense lift.

"And if Joey Barton can follow Micah Richards into the full England squad, it'd be marvelous for us, not least when it comes to attracting players."

BIG-MATCH FACTS

LIVERPOOL against Manchester City is a mid table match-up between two clubs both brilliant at home and wretched away. They have each collected 14 more points on their own territory than they have on opposition turf.

Already through to the knock out stages, the Merseysiders finished top of their Champions League group with a 2-0 home victory over PSV on Wednesday, and all but two of their 18 League points have also been picked up at Anfield. They've won their last two and are unbeaten in 22 home Premiership matches, having won 19 and drawn three since losing 1-4 to Chelsea on 2 October 2005.

The Reds 'doubled' Manchester City last season, and are chasing a fourth successive home win over them.

MANCHESTER CITY travel the 38 miles to Anfield looking to add to their measly single point on the road and register their first away victory of this Premiership season, breaking Liverpool's unbeaten home record in the process.
City go into this game on the back of last Saturday's 3-1 victory over Fulham when Bernardo Corradi scored a brace in a contest that was virtually over by half time. The Citizens are therefore seeking to complete back-to-back victories for the first time in 42 outings, since Everton and West Ham fell victim to them at the City of Manchester Stadium on 2 and 16 October 2005 respectively.

City have recorded only one Premiership victory over Liverpool at Anfield from their nine visits. Nicolas Anelka scored both goals, one from the spot, in a 1-2 triumph on 3 May 2003.

1. The last three matches have resulted in a loss, a draw and a victory in that order.

8. Managed one League win away from home in the whole of 2006. A 0-1 victory at Aston Villa on 25 April is City's only maximum in 17 away League games. They have lost 13 of the last 15 on the road.
9. A midweek trip to Aston Villa and next weekend's home game against Watford, precede the Manchester derby at Old Trafford on Saturday, 9 December.
