Hmmm. Yesterday afternoon's
Bettingzone Market Moves...it still remains to be seen if the gamble will be landed though.
KERCHING!?
1410: Paddy Power have reported substantial support for Emirates as the new sponsor of the English Derby.
Following Friday's announcement that Vodafone are to end their 13-year involvement with the flagship sporting event this year, the bookmaker released betting on who will take their place.
International mobile phone company Orange emerged as the early favourite on Friday, but a flurry of bets over the weekend on Emirates means their odds have been slashed by Power's from 8/1 to 2/1 favourite.
Ken Robertson from
Paddy Power said: "Over the weekend we laid Emirates to lose a fairly substantial five figure sum and they have now emerged as very strong favourites.
"When you look at their existing sponsorship portfolio which spans many sports it seems that sponsorship of the English Derby would be a logical fit and should work well to reinforce their brand to an English and European audience".
2008 Derby sponsor,
Paddy Power bets: 2/1 Emirates, 6/1 Orange, 7/1 Eon, 9/1 Lexus, 9/1 Budweiser, 10/1 Mercedes, 12/1 Jacob's Creek, 12/1 Cartier, 12/1
