Well you need to invest and so on. Scotland has a small population compared to some other countries, so you can't expect to win everything.
The people who annoy me are those who claim Scotland are better than England at everything (especially football) and won't be told otherwise
England may not be the greatest, but at the most important team sports (football, cricket, and rugby union) England are pretty decent. Always qualify for major championships at football, ususally reaching the last 8 or so, 2nd best cricket team in the world currently and also the current Rugby World Cup holders.
It's amazing when you look back as little as 15 years ago and you see so many good Scottish footballers playing in the English league. Go back a little bit further, and there are loads of great Scottish players. Where did they all go?
A lot of people blame the so-called "Playstation generation" for not playing sport as much as they used to. This has an effect, but it's the same for all other countries too
