Ok - I know this is discussed every year but various new nuggets may well be uncovered by someone..
So - here are my 10 commandments for the new season..
1. Discipline..Create a spreadsheet record of every bet, as discussed in the nice little thread below, and actually continue it for longer than 3 weeks...
2. Live TV Games..Do not bet on a game just 'cos it's on TV!!
3. Avoid stupid sports I don't have an idea on..Ok that's pretty much everything..
4. Try not to chase losses..Grit my teeth and walk away..(It happens every year!!  )
5. Try and stick to a small percentage of my betting bank - even if it's a 'maximum'
6. Try and follow the best forum tipsters..
7. Avoid following any strategies/systems from MITK..
8. Ensure the best odds are chosen - Utilise the odds comparison sites - ie like the TDP one above..
9. Never bet when drunk..(May struggle with this one.. )
10. Try and make a profit (it WILL happen..

I am pretty much able to follow all of them Rick, bar 6 and 7 (MITK?). Its taken a long time but stuff such as discipline, recording all bets, avoiding punting on stuff I know little about, avoiding the urge (and its hard at times) to whack a huge fucking bet on something I think is a cert all help you in the long term.
I was so tempted to stick a very big wedge on Rangers on Tuesday night but in the end I didn't. When I actually watched the game I was so glad as despite them winning they made very heavy weather of it. It would have been shite to watch it with a lot riding on it, instead it was a good game to watch with nothing on it.
Good decent sensible levels of staking at all times means I can watch a game without having a possible heart attack due to over betting it.
Ohh, meant to add, number 6. No direspect to anyone here but I don't follow anyone in particular. I like to make my own mind up about my bets. If a decent punter/analyst has the same opinion then all the better. If they add something of note that I hadn't oicked up, then likewise. But if they go against me then it won't usually sway me off my selection, unless there is very good reasoning. And I usually won't pick someone selection for the sake of it. Its my money I am punting therefore I usually like the decision to be mine and not someone elses.
