Re: X-Factor versus Strictlly Come Dancing..Saturday Night Ratings Battle!

SCD's documentary got thumped last week. It got 4.7 million viewers whilst the first of The X Factor shows got 6.8 million.

The X Factor has Ant and Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway as a lead-in whilst Strictly Come Dancing has...A Question of Sport!

C'mon...this surely is no contest!? First blood goes to The X Factor in my opinion.

Folks who watch Ant and Dec are probably going to stay on to watch The X Factor and not switch over to Strictly Come Dancing.

BUT...

Folks over at Digital Spy think SCD will triumph as it's devoted fanbase at BARB will drive them over the edge and that they WILL tune in to the first show (despite Ant and Dec) suggesting that because it starts 45 minutes earlier it'll get a headstart and viewers that watch both SCD and TXF will stick to SCD.

Slightly different circumstances last year but yes, SCD did indeed beat The X Factor in it's first head-to-head encounter albeit by only 0.4 million!

BBC1:
5:35pm-6:15pm A Question of Sport
6:15pm-7:30pm Strictly Come Dancing

ITV1:
5:30pm-6:45pm Ant and Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway
6:45pm-7:45pm The X Factor

Bluff. Counter-bluff. I think I've poisoned my own drink here.

Feck it. The wisdom of crowds? £20 at 11/10 at Paddy's on Strictly Come Dancing to win the first night battle then. If I lose I can blame myself for trusting the folks of DS. Again.
