Re: Rangers win Barca hearts and minds - fan letter
although they do have a large support in glasgow, i think its unfair to lay the blame or write letters to 'glaswegians'
rangers fans come from all over scotland, as do celtics, these people represent communities from towns and cities in huge numbers. for example, in inverness, well over 150 miles away from glasgow, they have about 20 buses running south every weekend and a shop in the city center that does a trade the northern clubs couldnt dream off. even in places with established and previously successful clubs like aberdeen, dundee and edinburgh suffer from it, last time celtic played hibs in a cup final the club (celtic) made a point of selling tickets in edinburgh to their fans, to prevent them being in the wrong end. the old firms 'away' fans in league games is for the most part made up of locals, 5,000 of them at an aberdeen game is the tip of the iceberg in the north east! dundee, kilmarnock, paisley, the rest are all the same.
i really couldnt give a monkies about the old firm, im just a bit annoyed at how the foreign press view the old firm, i think glasweigen football fans get a seriously raw deal. every rangers or celtic fan i know from the city is top notch and some would even do away with the rest of the country who cling on to them because of the school they went to or where their great grandfather was born
