1115: Bookies William Hill have almost surrendered to the inevitable and have slashed the price of X Factor winner Leon Jackson having the Christmas No 1 from 1/6 to 1/20.

His nearest challenger is Katie Melua and Eva Cassidy at 10/1, with Christmas favourites by the Pogues and Mariah Carey still in the hunt at 20/1.

"We understand that the single is flying off the shelves in HMV and we need a Christmas miracle to save ourselves a monster payout," said Hill's spokesman Rupert Adams.

Um. How much money did they take!? Can't have been that much considering it was already huge odds-on. Surely they haven't been getting punters to bet a combined £1 million to win £100,000 have they!? Pinch of salt....who's going to feel sorry for William Hill!?
