I'm always dubious of these 'opening bonuses' after i played on a few casinos. Some will offer you say, £200 if you deposit £200. They then want you to wager £30k before you can withdraw the £200 bonus. They also make it so that blackjack (the only casino game you really have any control over what happens) as counting 10% towards the bonus, so you the have to wager £300k to get £200 back!!!! Not only that, but the wagering money is taken from your balance before the bonus balance!! So if you get 25% of the way through, and change your mind, you cannot withdraw your initial deposit. All in all i've found sign-up bonuses to be a complete crock of shit.
So, are the betting bonuses any better?

Some bookies have very good sign up offers.
Laddies and
Hills regularly offer £100 free bets (if your first bet after sign up with them is £100) in the RP on a Saturday. I would expect the odd £200 offer to be thrown in roundabout Cheltenham time.
Most of these free bets are SNR (stake not returned), which is to stop you punting £100 free bet on a 1.01 shot and walking away with £101 for virtually no risk. So therefore if you stick £100 on a 1.50 you get to keep the profit, £50.
Some bookies give you account credits which is better because then if you win your "free" bet you get stake and profit back. However these ones normally have a min odds (again to stop the 1.01 betting) and a wagering requirment, say you have to bet your deposit and the free bet stake 3,4,5 or so times ie £600, £800, £1000 worth of bets. Still worth doing especially if you can "lose" early and have laid the bet off on
Betfair or the likes.
As traeth said, read the T&C's before you do any new account to see whats expected off you.
Ahh I remember the old days when
Mansion would give you £50 just for opening an account with them.....and it was withdrawable straight away
