THE crisis at Gretna, which reached a peak this week with the sacking of eight senior players, has prompted several bookmakers to pull down their prices on the club's trip to St Mirren tomorrow.
Totesport are the biggest bookmaker to shut the book on theLove Street tussle, with Stan James and Bet365 among other firms who yesterday declined to keep up prices.
“With so many rumours circulating that more and more players could be leaving, we felt we had no option,” said Totesport spokesman Paul Petrie.“We'd already cut St Mirren a few times as the news at Gretna continued to get worse.”
The SPL match is on Totesport's coupons but shop staff have been instructed not to take bets, though the firm does insist it could yet reopen the book.
St Mirren were last night a top price of 3-10 with Coral while Gretna were available at 10-1 with Skybet and VCbet.
