Re: Coca Cola League 1 - 1st Oct

....& finally on to the beloved Walsall

BBC:
Port Vale will be without midfielder Tony Dinning as he serves a one-match ban for collecting five yellow cards.
Chris Cornes is set to replace him after scoring twice during Wednesday's 2-2 draw with Oldham but Nathan Lowndes (knee) looks set to miss out.

Walsall manager Paul Merson is likely to be out of action until Christmas with a groin injury.

Andy Oakes has his hand in plaster after suffering ligament damage so John Ruddy will continue in goal.

....Walsall by all accounts came off the worse in the draw midweek with Brentford, the visitors having most of the game. Merson is a big blow to be out until xmas....there had been a lot of criticism of his fitness but he can still produce a telling pass @ this level. Reading the boards I think Pead is suspended @ right back here after 5 bookings, & Wright will deputise...this is a big blow IMO.
The Fryatt/Husbands pairing seems to be ok but Husbands hasnt been given a full game yet but the 2 of them look sharp & capable of goals.
Port Vales home record is decent, 3-1-1-5-1, Walsalls away record is 2-2-1-7-5.

I'm tempted by this but I think the safer bet might be over 2.5 goals here, although I do fancy a Walsall win
