CLUBS IGNORE INTERNATIONAL CLASH

Quote:
WITH Welsh Premier attendances still hovering around last season's low levels, clubs would surely want to avoid a clash with a Welsh international next Saturday.
Not so. While the Dragons kick-off against Northern Ireland at 2.00 - televised live on the BBC - five clubs will stage league fixtures half an hour later.
In truth, stupidity can be the only word to describe the fixture clashes at Bangor, Haverfordwest, Newtown, Porthmadog and Port Talbot.
Haverfordwest announced financial cut-backs on Friday night - the New Bridge Meadow has seen a fall in gates of 49% this season and an attractive fixture with Rhyl would surely have improved the club's cash flow if moved to Sunday, for example.
The same applies at Port Talbot's Victoria Road, where the average gate this season is just 127.
Three games go-ahead on the Friday night, with leaders TNS hosting Cwmbran Town on Sunday.
But it seems that the league and its clubs just can't learn the lessons of previous seasons - or maybe they just don't care?
