Re: Traeth's Welsh Thread - 7th/8th/9th Oct
Financial problems for Cwmbran as well - £50 a game !Cwmbran are doing well but we could see some of the players leaving.
Quote:
HARD-UP Cwmbran Town remain defiant their financial woes can be overcome.
Although the Gwent club have gone public in admitting they have a cash problem, interim chairman Mike Lewis refused to confirm all players and staff are now only being paid £50 each.
"I couldn’t possibly divulge any details of the meeting I had with the players and staff regarding matters relating to the finances of the club," said Lewis.
"The meeting was held following last Tuesday’s training session when they accepted the situation put to them and agreed to certain financial restrictions until the situation can be clarified.

PLUS a reiteration of what amp has posted on Haverfordwest
Quote:
LEE John and Colin Loss are believed to among the casualties of financial cut-backs at Haverfordwest County after failing to appear in the Welsh Cup line-up.
Player/manager Deryn Brace received the news from his board on Friday night, ahead of the tie with Goytre United, and Saturday's early exit from the Cup at the hands of the Welsh Leaguers will hardly improve the cash situation.
"I've got to keep my chin up, it's one of those times when I could easily just walk away from the club," Brace told the Western Mail.
"But Haverfordwest is in my blood and I always vowed I would only leave with the club in a better position that when I arrived."
The Bluebirds' fortunes have dipped alarmingly since qualifying for the Uefa Cup in 2004 and finishing fourth in the Welsh Premier last season and attendances have slumped by nearly 50% this season.
Midfielder John, who played in the successful Haverfordwest side that qualified for Europe in 2003/4, only returned to West Wales during the summer after moving back from Port Talbot and had been ever-present this season in league and cup.
Loss was a trainee with Haverfordwest player/boss Deryn Brace at Norwich City and also spent time at Derby County, Gresley Rovers, Bristol City and Merthyr before entering the Welsh Premier with Barry Town, where he won winning championship medals.
He also played with Carmarthen Town and Rhayader before linking up with Brace again at Haverfordwest in the summer of 2002.
