Re: Scottish 1st/2nd/3rd Division 17th December

A few for me

4pts Partick to beat Alloa at 1.40 with Blue Square

Partick are up there challening Morton for 2nd spot in the league but last weekends late loss opened up a 7 point gap. Partick should do their bit this weekend and must be hoping Morton drop points on the tricky away game at Peterhead.

I still think Partick are a little bit inconsistent but the 3-3 at home v Gretna (last home game) even if all the goals came in last 10 when 3-0 down show they have the capabilility to score goals. Another 3 at Forfar 2 weeks later (leading 3-0 at HT) backed that up and they have the 2nd best goals scored tally in the league behind Gretna.

And if ever there was a team you would be wanting to face if your team scored goals regularly then it has to be Alloa. Ignore the 9-0 over Selkirk, I could have beaten them. Their league form since a 1-1 at Ayr Utd on 15th October has been nothing short of abysmal.

Played 7 Won 0 Drew 0 Lost 7 For 5 Against 25

They have conceded at least 3 goals EVERY game. They have conceded a total of 11 to the 3 teams directly above them in 7th, 8th and 9th places, and two of those games were at home.

Quite simply, they cannot stop conceding goals. Partick to take full advantage of that on Saturday.

3pts Airdrie to beat Brechin at 1.50 with Skybet

Airdries form of late has been decent ever since losing to QOTS on 15th October.

At home they are W3 D1 in their last 4 homes and they include 4-0 wins over Dundee and QOTS in their last home game. They have picked up 2 points in their last 2 away games as well including a 1-1 draw at St Mirren. Narrow 1-0 defeats at Clyde and St Johnstone complete a decent 8 match set of form. Not great away but seem to be getting stronger at home.

Brechin are the Alloa of Division 1. 5pts all season, no wins from 18 games, 14 scored and 35 conceded. They have picked up 2 points from their last 24 available and they were in games v 9th placed QOTS abd 8th placed Stranraer. They are not suffering particularly heavy defeats bar a 4-1 home loss to St Johnstone but they are losing. Against a side who is playing well at home, I can only see one out come.

I will also be having

1pt on St Mirren at 2.10 with Canbet

1pt on Arbroath at 2.20 with Bet365

Simply because I think both teams should be evens or lower.

St Mirren had a shocker last weekend but at home they are good and defensively excellent with only 2 conceded in 8 homes. Note that they lead the league by 7 points despite an imbalance of away games to homes, St Johnstone, their opponents on Saturday and 2nd placed, have benefited from 2 more homes than aways.

Arbroath are the sort of side I like, have racked up 3 decent home league wins, including a 4-0 humping of Berwick and are scoring. Queens Park may have gubbed E Stirling midweek but their previous away saw them only drawing at Albion, which is a pretty poor result.
