Hmm, unlike League One, that's actually a pretty emphastic statistic there. In 17 years, the team that finishes 4th has reached the final 14 times, and won it 10 times.
I have to favor Lincoln tonight at the price using a similar sort of logic as to Forest last night. I've followed their games this season quite a bit as I had an ante post each way on Jamie Forrester to be top scorer but he unfortunately fell 1 short as the goals dried up in the New Year. Stallard however has slotted in nicely and they're ateam with lost of goals in them (joint 2nd top scorers in the League). The front two have more than 30 between them and nearly double what the likely Rovers pairing of Walker and Haldane have.
In the mini table of games versus the other top 6 they are P5 W2 D3 away which comparess very favorably against the record of Bristol Rovers W1 D2 L2 and only 3 goals scored in those games. I distrust teams like Bristol who are overly reliant on a mean defence and who don't score a lot. I feel Lincoln have a significant egde in this regard.
Lincoln's play off history is woeful and form is definitely with Bristol Rovers. I know that the form team has gone up in the last two seasons but I have a sneaky feeling for Lincolm at a big price.
