west brom and norwich at 1st glance
southampton look dire at the back, dodgy goalie as well, norwich can hopefully make home advantage count
paul simpson under pressure from very irate fans, west broms extra class should tell

Fist glance i really like Norwich too broms , in fact I'm getting on asap. They have had a good start , away draw whilst beleaguered with a virus versus a team under pressure already, 2 straight defeats including against Peterboro live on TV.
2.25 is a lovely price.
Cov again maybe , I think Watford will be underestimated for a while but Sheff U are a decent squad

I wouldnt put anyone off backing Watford against Sheff Utd this weekend. Although Morgan is back - I don't personally think it's the greatest news in the world.. Lee Hendrie is out for 2 months post op - I thought he was one of the best players last weekend. Naysmith is also out. The defence does look dodgy and if it wasnt for the wealth of talent up front I reckon United would be struggling..Maybe an overs bet wouldnt be too bad a bet..

Re: CC Championship: 18-19th Aug

for anyone who is interested, I'd be tempted to give the Blackpool v Bristol City game a wide berth, looking like a 1-1 draw to me.

Re: CC Championship: 18-19th Aug

I think the following is a superb bet..

when I saw this Saturday's fixtures I pegged Colchester at around 4/6 to beat Barnsley.. Having watched Colchester last weekend I was extremely impressed with them..They were organised, first to the ball, determined and exceptionally difficult to break down. I then understood why they had done so well last season. Barnsley on the other hand narrowly escaped relegation and then the first weekend back they get hammered at home by Coventry 4-1..

I couldnt believe when I saw 10/11 !! Give it to me !!!!

Colchester (1) v Barnsley - 10 pt stake @ 10/11 (Stan James)

Re: CC Championship: 18-19th Aug

I think I may well investigate Crystal Palace further.. They produced the result of the 1st round last weekend (4-1 demolition of Southampton away) and although Leicester have assembled a new look team full of hope, they got beat by Blackpool last weekend at home and may need further time to bed in.. 11/10 is a nice price...Hmmm...

I'm almost deffo with you on Colchester trick , I'm sure folks who follow this league were interested as I was to see how Colchester would fare without their striking duo this season. It appears the personnel change but the system stays the same. Barnsley as you say look set to struggle with wayward signings and a terrible start. Good call

Re: CC Championship: 18-19th Aug

I've already put money on Norwich to beat Southampton @ 2.3 with Coral. Southampton have gone from play-offs to selling club in just a few months and morale must be zero. Agree with the above about Colchester beating Barnsley (and so a do a few others: Colchester's price has dropped from 1.94 to 1.92 overnight on betinternet's -0.5 AH bet). My only question is, do Colchester have the firepower to score, esp. if Barnsley nick an away goal? Colchester's manager Geraint Williams was unhappy about their attacking prowess after their defeat at Shewsbury in the Carling Cup and they are rumoured to be chasing another striker before the transfer window closes. If I can be convinced Colchester'll score then I'll invest in them: Barnsley are relegation candidates I think.

Re: CC Championship: 18-19th Aug

I agree re: your comments about Colchester's firepower upfront - indeed their goals against the Blades were more about Sheff Utd's inadequate defending as opposed to cutting-edge attack. However I wouldnt take much stock in the Carling CUp match and Williams will definately have them fired up on Saturday, keen to ensure that the point last Saturday doesnt go to waste.. They will create plenty of chances against a struggling Barnsley, and at 10/11 it isnt a price I can resist..

Re: CC Championship: 18-19th Aug

thinking about taking Wolves in Sheffield, the home team having sold Chris Brunt to WBA...surely this must be a big blow? Wolves were better against Watford in my opinion and were unlucky to lose. On the other hand Sheffield didn't play well in their match.
2.75 @ Stan James is ok for me.

Re: CC Championship: 18-19th Aug

i was interested in wolves as well, saw wednesday last night at rotherham on sky, their defence looked very dodgy and they should have conceded at least three 1st half goals, 2nd half they were much better and passed the ball well but wolves will be a different kettle of fish altogether, one to ponder for me i think

Coventry for me this weekend. Dowie and his boys might finally be contenders for promotion this year.
