Re: Coca-Cola League Championship: 25/26 Aug

Might as well get them up early. I was just reading this see-
Quote:
Crystal Palace boss Peter Taylor expects a trio of key players to be back in contention for the weekend trip to Ipswich Town.

The Eagles followed up their opening day 4-1 thrashing of Southampton with a 2-2 draw with Leicester City on Saturday, but Taylor believes Carl Fletcher, Paul Ifill and Jeff Hughes will all be fit for the weekend trip to Portman Road.

Against Leicester, Taylor handed a first Championship start to Jose Fonte, but is looking forward to naming a more experienced side in the coming weeks.

"We were without Ben Watson and Carl Fletcher wasn't fit, so we had a decision to make," he told the club's official website.

"Jose can play that position with ease, but I think maybe he was a bit more comfortable defensively, so that's why we changed it.

"I'm glad we don't have a game until Sunday now, because hopefully we'll have a few more bodies available for that game.

"They were nearly ready for today but if we have a good week, I'm hopeful because we could do with another three coming back and that will be good for the competition."

Re: Coca-Cola League Championship: 25/26 Aug

watford look good to beat Leicester.

Watford are still pretty much the team that were in the prem and had a good result at wolves who'll be challenging at the top. Leicester are a complete new team that have played 2 games together.

Leicester were shocking at home to blackpool on the first day, and have been terrible at home for the past 2 seasons so you've got to fancy watford.

Only thing putting me off is that Leicester were the better side against a palace team who've had a good start to the season.

Also Martin Allens jobs on the line at leicester after an indifferent start to the season and spending a lot of mandrics money. He's known as a good motivator of teams and he should be able to put a leicester side out that will give 110% and battle to the end. It could be close.

Im talking myself out it now!!!!!!!!! Back the draw!?!?!!

Be strong there Matty , Leicester were up against a pretty inexperienced Palace side as Komps post points out. I've been impressed with Watford too , not many will come away from Wolves with owt this season, 13/8 is about right I'd say for that

Re: Coca-Cola League Championship: 25/26 Aug

I'm surprised at the price Wolves are against Blackpool.. I had the pleasure of watching Wolves beat Wednesday albeit in alcohol-tinted corporate hospitality glasses. However they were impressive (as much as Wednesday were unimpressive ) and nearly as impressive is the price of 8/11 (betdirect) against a Blackpool team who are obviously punching above their weight. Teams like Blackpool, Scunthore, et al seem to excel at the beginning of the season, but it won't last and 8/11 (which has actually drifted out ) is a great price in my opinion..

Re: Coca-Cola League Championship: 25/26 Aug

No significant news but I feel that Plymouth will compete at a much higher postion than will Barnsley this season. Barnsley have already started to get booed by their fans who can see only a struggle again this season. They lost Nardiello who argueably kept them up last season with 6 goals in 4 games towards the end of the season. They drew at Colchester last time but were up against 10 men for quite a while , not a huge factor for me mind but their fans will have expected more.
No such problems for the South coast travellers, they have already beaten Hull away and won well too, they drew at home to Ipswich who have started very well , Holloway was passing a kidney stone and missed that game but if he passed it as smooth as his charges then he wouldn't have been in much pain (sorry).
barnlsey have just made 2 new signings , one being from Everton called Anderson de silva.Davey will hope they gel straing away but I have my doubts.
Plymouth 9/5 7/10

Re: Coca-Cola League Championship: 25/26 Aug

Bristol v Scunny looks decidedly drawey and I cant see any edge there.
Burnley v QPR - Burnley won at home lost away , QPR lost at home to Cardiff and drew at Bristol City . I really fancy the clarets here ,the boy Lafferty had a stormer for NI midweek and he's only on their bench. They have great attacking options Akimbiyi , Gray and Blake all in the squad I fancy them to score a couple.
QPR are expecting a physical game and they'll get one too, they have injuries and that's swung my thinking into having a point on the home team
Burnley 10/11 5/10

Coventry still aint convinced me this season, they followed up a great win at Barnsley with a muddling draw at home to Hull. Dowie has a couple of injuries and there's talk of the midfield not being quite right. Cardiff dont appeal either though, a home loss to Stoke then a win at a poor QPR. Jimmhy Floyd will be there for them on saturday but I cant see him inspiring any sort of dynamic turnaround seeing as he netted just twice last season. No bet for me , two teams who may end up in the play offs IMO

Re: Coca-Cola League Championship: 25/26 Aug

Stoke look a decent price away to Southampton.

Southampton have made a terrible start to the season losing all 3 games including away to Peterborough and a 4 -1 spanking at home to palace who to be truthful are a mediocre side in this league.

Stoke on the other hand have had a great start including a good win away at cardiff which is always difficult and a good result at home against Charlton.

I dont think southampton are as poor as their recent form suggests but with stoke playing well at the moment im tempting to have a dabble.

Re: Coca-Cola League Championship: 25/26 Aug

Seems like a club in turmoil matty doesn't it?

This is from their supporters website regarding their line up:

Quote:
Davis - well one of them needs a run, instead of changing them when they fuck up

Ostlund - because theres no-one better

Thomas - need another solid performance

Powell - regretably

Le Vignal - maybe the prefix will improve his ability

Surman - hopefully regain last seasons form

Viafara - if he's still here

Hammill - I'm confident he will come good

Safri - I cant believe he is as bad as he played at narwich FFS

Jones - same as Viafara

Saga - to continue his 100% record of scoring in every home league, this season

Subs: Bart, Raz, Rudi, Makin & BWP....
Stoke will keep it tight as Pullis knows only one way to play. He's not much leeway selectionwise either, this from a Stoke site:

Quote:
The fact that the team virtually picks itself at present, and with one or two included who IMHO are not worthy of starting in a team trying to get promoted from the Championship, as well as limited options off the bench (ie just Parkin really), just illustrates how desperate we are for reinforcements before the transfer window closes.
I think the price is quite tempting as a value bet , not a game I'll be on but good luck matt

England Championship
Soccer - Barnsley/Plymouth - total Over 2½ (-115)
for the regulation time held on Aug 25 at 9:00am [pending]

Bet of the week for me, two teams that can score and at least one that can't defend...
