Re: Coca Cola League 2: 1st Sept

I'm going to be all over Lincoln this weekend away to Dag & Reg.

Dagenham I think are going to struggle a bit this season and have lost twice on the road already and have 1 draw at home. Only thing in the back of my mind is the Dagenhams home form. They have a decent record on their own patch but that is against 'lower' opposition.

If Lincoln want to repeat last seasons play-offs then I think this is the sort of game that they would have looked at as being a potential 'banana skin' but will have pencilled in a probably 3 points.

They slipped up against Shrewsbury 4-0 first game but have bounced back with 2 wins against Mansfield and Accrington Stanley (2 easier opponents).

I think the 6/4 available is a fair price.

No team news available yet but your views are more than welcome

Re: Coca Cola League 2: 1st Sept

Dagenham’s squad looks very weak to me though they didn’t disgrace themselves against ffice:smarttags" />Luton in the league cup recently. They’re weaker than Lincoln but bare in mind that Lincoln aren't the side they were last season with a few key departures (mainly Jeff Hughes) over the summer and a couple of early thrashings. Also Daggers manager John Still used to be number two at Lincoln so may have that extra incentive to push his side.fficeffice" />

The season we went up from the conference Dagenham (with a not incredibly dis-similar side to now) were nowhere yet somehow beat all the top 6 sides at home. I was taking photos the time we played them and was on the pitch and almost twisted my ankle in one of the many potholes. Of course that was a couple of seasons ago but I still have the ‘don’t bet against Dagenham at home’ principle imprinted on my brain.

I think you can get evens on Notts County Komp.

Barnet have started weakly, picking up a point off 3 games against largely weak opposition, and we could be potentially weaker this weekend. Our two central midfielders (Bishop (man of the match in his only league appearance so far) & Leary) are definitely out, our best centre-back Yakubu (could still be out – definitely worth checking), his replacement Angus was sent-off last week and we struggled against a poor Brentford side who had 10 men for most of the game. Our lack of squad depth and total reliance on the weekly goal of the season contender from Jason Puncheon will mean it’ll be a struggle. I don’t rate Bradford too highly mind and Barnet’s ability to pull out a result when you least expect it means it wouldn’t be something I’d stake too highly on.

Re: Coca Cola League 2: 1st Sept

I’m going with Darlington again this week. They would of made it 3 wins out of 3 if it hadn’t of been for a 94th minute equalizer last week. Macclesfield are unbeaten but have drawn all 3 of their games, what must be a concern though is that they had led in all 3 of those games.

I’m not quite sure why Stockport are as big as 7/4 to win at Mansfield, County have started well enough, beating Dag + Red 1-0 on the opening day and then getting two good draws against teams that I think will finish top 6, 1-1 at Chesterfield and 2-2 at home to Rotherham, they then ran Charlton very close in the Carling Cup, finally losing 4-3.
Mansfield have been poor so far with just one point in their first three games and had a bit of a tanking in the Carling Cup at Oldham too. This is only their second game at home so far though and early form may mean nothing yet but the fact they have only scored 3 goals (conceded 7) and all three by the same player (1 of them a pen) suggests they’re nowhere near where they want to be.

(007) Darlington 4.00 @ 13/8 Betdirect
(008) Stockport 4.00 @ 7/4 Stan James

Re: Coca Cola League 2: 1st Sept

Barnet's latest news

apart from the fact that we have a tiny ground, our major problem this year is after the massive clear-out from Fairclough not so many players join us.
For the next game neither Bishop nor Devera can play(red cards)and Leary will be out for two months after the game vs Brentford
Angus as Frodo wrote played his first game and sent off
In the same game Sagi Burton got substituted in the second half from Joe O'Ceaurill(released from Woolwich Arse). In addition bees signed also Kenny Gillet a french left back from Caen.
Yesterday Fairclough made a double signing:
Quote:
Veteran Paul Smith has been captured by Fairclough whilst the boss has also signed Charlton's teenage starlet Josh Wright on loan.
Smith is a 35 year old central midfielder who has made over 500 appearances in the Football League with a number of clubs. He has most recently been on the books with Torquay United.
He originally began his footballing career with Southend, who he turned professional with but after limited chances to play at Roots Hall he moved onto Brentford, following a loan spell with Dover Athletic.

In August 1997, he linked up with ex-Bee Andy Hessenthaler at Gillingham where he enjoyed the longest spell of his career, making around 400 appearances. He was chosen as player of the season four times during his spell there, as well as captaining the side....
Smith now joins the Bees to add competition to the midfield, possibly to do a similar job as Hessy did when he was here, except this time with promotion in mind, not with the mindset of avoiding relegation.

Meanwhile Fairclough's other signings, Wright, will probably excite supporters much more, especially on the pitch. The 17 year old is a bright prospect in English football, having been brought through Charlton's academy successfully and five months ago was rewarded by Alan Pardew with a two-year professional contract.
Wright has signed an initial one-month loan deal, to easy the suspensions and injuries to first-team players Barnet currently have, although Fairclough probably sees this with a view of a long-term loan deal, possibly for the entire season if he impresses.
...is ability has proved through the caps he has earned at England U18 international level, as well as - earlier in his career - the under 16s and under 17s for England, having won 15 caps.

Charlton's website reports says he 'boasts a fine range of passing and, coupled with great vision and awareness, the playmaker is a man upon whom teammates can rely to crack open opposition defences..
When he played for Charlton's under 18s last season, he netted once in 13 appearances, whilst gave a similar return for the reserves: twice in 12 appearances.
from vitalbarnet

things look more positive now
if we could have signed Ben Wright (Lincoln grabbed him)...

Lincoln can bring home the bacon at 8/5 when they travel to last year's Conference winners, Dagenham & Redbridge.

After failing at the play-off hurdle for the fourth year running it was no surprise to see the Imps begin the new season with a hangover, and two heavy defeats against Shrewsbury and Doncaster left Lincoln fans fearing the worst.
Bettingzone

However, the men from Sincil Bank have bounced back over the last couple of weeks and will head to Dagenham with back-to-back wins under their belt, beating Mansfield 3-1 and Accrington 2-0.

Those two wins have slotted Lincoln nicely up to fourth in the league and they should be back to improve on that when they face a Daggers side who were thumped 4-0 at Chester last weekend.

Prior to that setback, they let a 2-0 lead slip to draw 2-2 at home to Wycombe and with further defeats against Luton and Stockport it has been a tough start for the Conference Champions.

wouldn't dispute what has been said, what I don't understand is why chester are considered one of the least likely away sides to win, I have nothing against rotherham but there isn't a great deal in these two sides.

Re: Coca Cola League 2: 1st Sept

Fair play to those of you that are backing Lincoln but I was researcing the Chesterfield v Wycombe game and found these stats:

Dagenham Redbridge Wycombe
Goals : 2 2
Possession : 48% 52%
Shots On Target : 15 5
Shots Off Target : 8 6
Corners : 7 1

this suggest that Dagenham might be stronger at home?

Must admit that raised an eyebrow with me. I think the Rotherham price comes from the fact that the bookies have vastly over estimated Peterborough this season and Rotherham destroyed them at home. Looks like a tough one to call for me with the Millers definitely not odds on shots.

I know Chester fans weren't too positive about this season so I'm not sure I'd fully trust them even after the impressive start they've had to the season.

Further to Batsinilas article above our new signing Paul Smith has been released 24 hours after signing.

I honestly don't have a clue what our team is going to look like at the weekend. We're a joke.

not often inhere, but realy like this league. Wondering why is noone mentioned MK Dons tomorrow. Did read of all reviews regarding Rochdale and MKD and came to conclusion that home side is pish and guests are improving from day to day.
Considering it as one of the biggest tomorrow. Anyone outthere to confirm my thoughts or to put me back to the eart.

Not one for me. IIRC Rochdale beat MK Dons 5-0 at home last season.
