Re: Welsh Premier League Aug 31st/Sep1st

my first impressions

I don't like Friday evening matches , results are inconsistant for these part-timers
Friday
Airbus v Bangor
Both sides have won 1 and drawn 1 , but I expect Bangor to win
Haverfordwest v Port Talbot
Both sides win one and lost one.
Haverfordwest stuggling to score and Port Talbot involved in the highest scoring game in the opening two weeks. Not sure about this one.
Neath v Carmarthen
Both sides have won 1 and lost 1 .
I saw Neath beat my side Porthmadog , nothing special , this is their first home match.
Carmarthen lost their first game to Rhyl and won 0-3 away at fellow promoted Llangefni last week

Saturday
Aberystwyth v Welshpool ...This is one is being played on Saturday
Aber had a great home 5-1 win against TNS last week.
Welshpool struggled on the opening day against Llanelli , but got a good win away to Cefn. Giving this one a miss.
Caernarfon v Connah's Quay
Both sides have a 100% record , Caernarfon out-played my side Porthmadog on Monday.
Connah's Quay have played both promoted sides and won , but will find Caernarfon a different class of opposition. I will look further into this match as I fancy a home win. at that price.
Llanelli v Cefn
Llanelli are playing well and getting the results should beat Cefn but odds are poor for me.
Llangefni v Rhyl
Llangefni struggling in this league already and will find it even more difficult against title contenders Rhyl.
Newtown v Porthmadog
Two poor sides at the moment , my side Port have been performing poorly , have numerous injuries but are looking to sign some more players . I think we will do well to get a draw , Newtown were poor at home last season.
The New Saints v Caersws
Both sides without a point , not the expected start from TNS.
They play their first home match on an artificial "Ligaturf" pitch , that should suit their footballing style. Caersws may have to wait a few weeks before they get their first points.

I will post more details later.

Re: Welsh Premier League Aug 31st/Sep1st

My Friday evening bet

Airbus v Bangor
Airbus finished 12th last season.
Airbus' record this season is W1 D1 L0 , with a win at Caersws and a home draw against Aberystwyth.
Bangor finished 5th last season
Bangor's record this season is W1 D1 L0 , with a home win against Haverfordwest and an away draw against Newtown.
A win would take Bangor to the top of the league for one day.
Bangor's visit to Airbus have not been good .The last three visits have been a draw and two defeats.
Airbus have no injury worries and have a full squad to choose from.
Bangor have two doubtful midfield players in Parry and Killacky.
It is my belief that Bangor are a better side than Airbus and will get the result tonight.

Bangor 2 @ 2.25 with expect

Re: Welsh Premier League Aug 31st/Sep1st

my friday evening jinx strikes again ... will i learn
Welsh Premier League
Airbus UK 1-0 Bangor City
Haverfordwest 2-1 Port Talbot
Neath 1-2 Carmarthen

some team news from welsh-prem
Quote:
Welshpool will be without last season's leading scorer Calvin Davies (tendonitis) and fellow striker Steve Rogers is also a major doubt for the visit to Aberystwyth

Rhyl manager is waiting on the fitness of striker Lee Hunt and defender Stuart Graves , but will definitely be without the suspended Dave Cameron and James Bewerton.

Injury-hit Porthmadog go to Newtown without player/boss Clayton Blackmore and central defenders Mike Foster and Ryan Davies.

Re: Welsh Premier League Aug 31st/Sep1st

The top three last season should win their matches today but bookies also think so. Those odds don't tempt me
Llanelli v Newi Cefn Druids 1 @ 1.25
Llangefni Town v Rhyl 2 @ 1.50
T.N.S. v Caersws 1@ 1.28

Two matches are the ones getting my money.

Caernarfon v Connah's Quay 1 @ 2.37
Both sides have won their opening games , Caernarfon took up till Christmas last season to get the 6 points that they've already got this season . They ended last season well and they looked good winning against my side Porthmadog on Monday.
Connah's Quay had a great season but have lost their manager and quite a few players to Bangor in the close season .Their two wins have been against the promoted sides.I'll be going on the home side here.

Newtown v Porthmadog 1 @ 2.20
Newtown had a draw at home to Bangor on the opening day , were well beaten at Port Talbot last week and thier home record was poor last season .They are under new management .
Porthmadog have been poor this season and have injuries to key players in boss Clayton Blackmore , central defender Ryan Davies and left back Foster. Keeper Harvey is also carrying an injury.
From what i've seen of my team Port I cannot see them winning without these three.
This is the type of game Port have got to win but I'm not very optimistic so another home win.
