Re: Scottish Junior Football

A couple in here tomorrow worth a punt based on what I have heard.

A Broxburn/Edinburgh double and also it might be worth a wee single on Livingston Utd at 5/1

Just to set it up, there are 3 levels here, East Superleague, the best teams from the East of Scotland, from up Tayside to East Lothian. Thats followed by Premier League, 2nd division of the Superleague. Then there is East South Division, basically Division 3.

Broxburn – Lad at my work plays for them, he says his lot were about 1.25 for this game last season. West Calder (his old club) are a pretty mediocre side, defo bottom half team, Broxburn are 5/1 for the league (Division 3) and probably between them, Fauldhouse and Sauchie for the league.

Here's the League Cup results so far with respective leagues beside opponents

11/08/2007 Broxburn Athletic 2 Pumpherston Juniors (D3) 2
15/08/2007 Linlithgow Rose (SL) 4 Broxburn Athletic 0
18/08/2007 Dalkeith Thistle (D3) 1 Broxburn Athletic 2
22/08/2007 Broxburn Athletic 1 Edinburgh United (D3) 1
25/08/2007 Bonnyrigg Rose (SL) 1 Broxburn Athletic 0

11/08/2007 Blackburn United (D3) 2 West Calder United 1
15/08/2007 West Calder United 0 Fauldhouse United (D3) 3
18/08/2007 Whitburn Juniors (SL) 8 West Calder United 3
22/08/2007 Harthill Royal (D3) 2 West Calder United 3
25/08/2007 West Calder United 3 Stoneyburn Juniors (D3) 1

Linlithgow are Scottish Junior champions having won the Scottish last season, a very good side. That apart Broxburn did ok in a group where only one (Linlithgow) goes through. A respectable performance in the last game v Bonnyrigg.

Another lad at my work plays for Whitburn, he said their thumping on West Calder could easily have been double figures.

Edinburgh Utd – Lad at my work has just been speaking to the (new) Stoneyburn manager. They have already sacked their previous manager after being battered in the league cup (4-0 of Fauldhouse, 4-1 of Whitburn, even beaten by West Calder).

The new manager has been in Canada for 5 weeks, is a good manager, but he hasn’t had time to get any players in. Stoneyburn are struggling to even get a team, asking a couple of old lads out of retirement, have no centre halfs for tomorrow and can’t even borrow players from their U19’s as they have a cup game tomorrow.

Edinburgh are a mid table side but should be backed due to Stoneyburns problems.

11/08/2007 Edinburgh United 1 Dalkeith Thistle (D3) 0
15/08/2007 Pumpherston Juniors (D3) 2 Edinburgh United 1
18/08/2007 Edinburgh United 2 Bonnyrigg Rose (SL) 2
22/08/2007 Broxburn Athletic (D3) 1 Edinburgh United 1
26/08/2007 Linlithgow Rose (SL) 3 Edinburgh United 0

Decent result to hold Super League side to a 2-2 at home.

11/08/2007 Stoneyburn Juniors 1 Harthill Royal (D3) 2
15/08/2007 Whitburn Juniors (SL) 4 Stoneyburn Juniors 1
21/08/2007 Fauldhouse United (D3) 4 Stoneyburn Juniors 0
27/08/2007 Blackburn United (D3) 2 Stoneyburn Juniors 2
25/08/2007 West Calder United (D3) 3 Stoneyburn Juniors 1

Apart from a draw at Blackburn beaten of everyone else including a poor West Calder

Livingston Utd - Mate reckons bookies are wrong here. Livingston are 5/1 at Harthill. Last season they were horrendous, getting gubbed every week but they have a totally new team this season, all players from the west of Scotland and a new manager.

A lot of people who have seen them have been impressed. They have had some good displays/performances in the League Cup including holding one of the fancied teams for the league (Sauchie) to 2-2 at Sauchie as well as losing only 2-1 at Superleague (ie 2 divisions above) Bathgate and holding Superleague Camelon to 0-0 for 75 mins before eventually losing 3-0.

They only took 1 point from their 4 League Cup games (at Sauchie) but 2 sides in their group were 1 Division above them (Premier League) and the other 2 were Superleague (2 divisions). Last seasons side would have lost 5 goals a game. The fact they performed so well against the 2 Superleague sides confirms it’s a totally different and much better side this season.

As you can see from below, Harthill have done nothing special despite having a much easier group, only Whitburn being outside their normal league. They only beat poor Stoneyburn by a goal and lost at home to West Calder who are also poor.

Mate reckons Livi should be 2/1 or 5/2 tomorrow.

11/08/2007 Armadale Thistle (PL) 2 Livingston United 0
15/08/2007 Livingston United 1 Bathgate Thistle (SL) 2
18/08/2007 Sauchie Juniors (D3) 2 Livingston United 2
22/08/2007 Boness United (PL) 3 Livingston United 0
25/08/2007 Livingston United 0 Camelon Juniors (SL) 3

11/08/2007 Stoneyburn Juniors (D3) 1 Harthill Royal 2
15/08/2007 Harthill Royal 2 Blackburn United (D3) 1
18/08/2007 Harthill Royal 1 Fauldhouse United (D3) 2
22/08/2007 Harthill Royal 2 West Calder United (D3) 3
25/08/2007 Whitburn Juniors (SL) 3 Harthill Royal 0

Re: Scottish Junior Football

Decent game will be at Countess Park with Dunbar v Tranent.

Tranent have a young team this season and after speaking to one of their management team (he's quietly confident Tranent will sneak it although hes says it could be close). Tranent have already beaten Dunbar in the League Cup this season but this is now the league and teams dont always take the league cup that serious cause teams are drawn from the divisions into a mini league.

Although I don't like betting against my team but I think the 11/8 about Tranent is tempting.

Re: Scottish Junior Football

Ladbrokes did have prices last season but you would most likely have to ask for them as they had them on the screens rather than a coupon. They might have stopped as they were getting hammered due to the guys who priced them up not really having a clue. Pretty small limits available.

Cheers Danq but not really my work mate, just passing on what the lad I work with told me.

The two short priced winners look tighter than expected, will try and get an update on how the games went on Monday.

Shame about Livi, would be interesting to find out how that one went as well. Never an easy place to place, Harthill.
