Re: Johnstone's Paint Trophy: Tue 9th Oct

Two that i fancy at the minute but ill have to look into how serious these teams are taking the competition..

Leeds @ Evns, Their playing a team below them have a full strength squad and seem to be getting the rub of the green in every game and have been travelling well away from home only drawing to Gillingham when reduced to 9 men. Darlington on the other hand are playing well in league two and up round the top but i think there is a class difference between these two teams.

Carlisle @ 4/6 - They are always strong at home and are at the business end of league 1 whereas Chester sit round the top of league 2 which would lead me to believe a gulf in class however Chester trasvel very well away from home but i think with Carlisle being the home team they'll win this

Bristol Rovers could hand starts to fringe players Chris Lines, Craig Hinton and Sean Rigg in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy second-round clash.

Aaron Lescott is the only injury absentee because of a knee problem.

Bournemouth will be without on-loan winger Max Gradel, who has returned to France on compassionate leave following the death of his mother.

Defender Josh Gowling (foot) is a doubt - if he is ruled out, the Cherries will have just 11 fit outfield players.

From BBC

Bournemouth have injury crisis and i am with Bristol here.

What about Gillingham - Luton...

aren't Luton interested in keeping their minds (and strength) on the league matches. Also I've read on BBC Sport that they'll have second choice keeper and probably some rare starters like Drew Talbot, Ahmet Brkovic and Paul McVeigh.

@rcgills: what do you think about Gillingham's desires in this cup, having in mind that Cox, the captain, has head injury and will not play tommorow?

The price is juicy, like HW for 2.45 @ betsafe...

A very very very very small north east double for me, Darlington and Hartlepool. Darlo have the fire power upfront to inflict Leeds 1st defeat of the season and i dont think Leeds will give a fcuk about this competition. Lincoln have been poor and i'd fancy the Dog and Duck to win there at present.
I'm just getting rid of loose change @ 6.8/1

No one sees value in the following bets? I do, but I would like to hear your opinions, thank you!

Swansea vs Wycombe, AH (-1) Swansea at 2.10
Swindon vs Cheltenham, AH (-0.5, -1) Swindon at 2.05

This Mickey Mouse-cup is hopeless to bet on. You never know how serious the teams will take it.

Bristol Rovers was runner-up last year and maybe they take this a bit serious looking for another final? They are favorites home to Bournemouth.

I'm having some on Carlisle tonight. I've been told that Chester are resting a lot of players for this game.

As too are Bury, contrary to the BBC reports:

Quote:

Bury boss Chris Casper has said he does not expect to make any changes. Striker Andy Mangan and midfielder Nicky Adams both scored at the weekend and will again keep their places.
I've been told that Bury are resting some key players for this match. They won here 2-1 at the weekend but am tempted by Rochdale at Evens.

We shall see.

Re: Johnstone's Paint Trophy: Tue 9th Oct

Horrible competition to call as motivations and team selection are very difficult to judge. Even if the prview hints at changes it doesn't always pan out that way and comes back and bites you on the bum.

AFU's Rochdale shout could be the best of the lot. This is based on the fact that man for man Rochdale are the better side, although Bury beat them at the weekend. This is a big local derby game and I'd imagine Rochdale's manager / fans would be spitting feathers after the weekend. The team news suggests Bury will have 3 youth teamers playing tonight, but even if they do or don't Evs or maybe a tad higher should be reasonable value on Rochdale.

Despite it being a poor betting comp due to teams resting players etc I'm on Carlisle, Hartlepool and Swansea.

All teams playing good football at the moment and even if they do rest players then they'll want to impress and be part of the feel good factor.

Re: Johnstone's Paint Trophy: Tue 9th Oct

dagenham at 4-1 in the local derby at orient could be value
they will be well up for this one playing their more illustrious neighbours for the first time (to my knowledge in a competitive game)
orient have shipped eight goals in their last two games and have a big game at leeds on saturday, reckon this game could mean alot more to the daggers than the o's. small stake of course beng the jpt!!!!

Re: Johnstone's Paint Trophy: Tue 9th Oct

I did consider that one for some time Broms'.
It was only the fact that they had a 0-3 lead at Brentford before conceding two late goals and then got beat 0-3 at home to Darlo that sort of put me off in the end and as you say about Orient's last two games conceding 8 made it tempting. I didn't realise they had that big game at leeds at the weekend. Big odds and not without a chance, good luck.
