Re: CC Div Two: 29th April

Cor blimey guv, this is a popular thread this week.

For me there's not much to be doing cartwheels over. However one or two that take my fancy at first glance.

Grimsby could be one to look at if Macc are still without Swailes and Whittaker.

I'd be tempted by Chester if they hadn't had their top defender injured last week (Artell) and hadn't been completely useless in their last two matches.

There are one or two problems at Wrexham at the moment between a couple of the players and fans. Alleged scuffles after last weeks game at Torquay. Wrexham have a good home record so it makes it tough. Surely there's a 3/1 on Oxford somewhere to make this one worth looking in to.

Cheltenham are inconsistent and a possible lay could be good value here against a County side who are by no means safe.

I am going to go for the outlandish Torquay win here at odds of 9/2 - They are on a run of 3 wins scoring 7 and conceding 0. Scored 3 against Carlisle earlier in the season (did lose 3-4 though) and have tightened up their defence. Carlisle will be celebrating their promotion whilst Torquay will be giving 110%. 9/2 is such value.

Re: CC Div Two: 29th April

Don't think for a minute that Carlisle are going to be weary from celebrating promotion 007! This is our last home game of the season and anyone who's been to Brunton Park knows how much of an atmosphere can be created with a full house spurring the players on.

Carlisle are looking to seal the Championship in front of their own fans on Saturday. A win for the Cumbrians and anything less than three points for Northampton would give the Cumbrians the top spot after having already sealed their second promotion in two seasons. Although they clinched promotion at Mansfield after last Saturdays draw, manager Paul Simpson has refused to let the players celebrate properly until they have clinched the title.
Carlisle should be at full strenght for this match, Kev Gray has been rested after picking up a dead leg against Mansfield and should start. Danny Livesey is also back in the squad after missing the last three games with an ankle injury. He came through a reserve match midweek and suffered no adverse reactions. Mark Rivers has left the club, but having only played four times since signing in January he was hardly an important player.

Torquay are still stuck in the relegation zone and need maximum points from their final two games to guarantee survival. They're certainly putting up a fight, with three wins on the trot. However, Torquay have only won twice in their last five away games, against a faltering Wycombe and a Macclesfield side that have been dragged into the relegation dog-fight.
Ironically, one of Torquays best players over the past few weeks has been a defender on-loan from Carlisle United. Lee Andrews, unsuprisingly, has been refused permission to play after an appeal from Torquay over the grounds of the loan deal. Torquay appealed to Carlisle manager Simpson after Carlisle secured promotion, but with the Championship still to clinch Simpson has refused to take any chances and refused to change the loan terms. 11-goal top scorer Tony Bedeau is struggling to be fit for the match, while Matt Hewlett and Carl Priso have been ruled out.

Re: CC Div Two: 29th April

Having had a closer look into a few games there's nothing for me here this weekend except for maybe lobbing Carlisle in an accumulator.

Boston and Wrexham's managers have both publically stated that they don't want their opposition this weekend to go down. :
