Re: Non League 23/24/25/26th November

Met Police 1.55 X 3.75 Ashford Town 4.60; Plod have lost twice at home this season, both against teams who are decent outfits, Worthing and Cray Wands. ON Monday Plod lost v Kings 2-0 on a very heavy pitch. No new news and no forum whatsoever stops me in my tracks. Ashford have signed two or three decent players. Sean Ray from Hastings, Lovell from Dover and Sherwood from Sittingbourne. All good solid team players to have in your side. Ashford play a passing style which incidentally Plod have lost against in the games mentioned above. However manager Lovell who was at Sittingbourne, lost v Plod 2-0 at home. For some reason I favour Ashford here, pace on the wings (Sherwood) and a decent centre forward (Lovell), a decent centre half, (Sean Ray). 2 points AWAY WIN and in the Acca.

Walton & Hersham 1.85 X 3.50 Cray Wanderers 3.25; After a 3-1 loss v bottom club YM’s on Tuesday W&H will look to get back to winning ways v Cray. W&H are a good solid side, no nonsense, tough tackling. The latter comes from the fact they had three players suspended for Tuesday’s match and to lose suggest they are a team of eleven players. Only one suspended tomorrow and v Cray who look to play the play should represent a good challenge. However that said as he pitches get worse longer balls on these sorts of pitches will come into play. I’ve got Cray down in my acca purely because this match is a lot closer than the odds suggest. But NO BET on the single.

Whitstable Town 3.15 X 3.50 Kingstonian 1.90; The Oyster men on Tuesday lost 3-1 v Cray. Whitstables official site is pleading that the fans show turn up in numbers, so in turn the players will show a little more passion. That smacks of desperation if you ask me. Kings v the lesser sides have been pretty consistent. Winning and I expect a win tomorrow although I am prepared only for one point and in my Acca. AWAY WIN.

NORTHWICH VICTORIA staved off a winding-up order last month, but avoiding relegation looks a miracle too far and their predicament could get worse after today's Blue Square Premier clash with Rushden at Victoria Stadium.

There are some very poor teams towards the foot of the table – Stafford and Droylsden have just two victories between them.

But Vics have been so bad that they are still cut adrift by four points.

Dino Maamria's side have managed just three draws and 16 defeats in their opening 19 games and there is no sign of improvement – they have lost five consecutive games and shipped 13 goals during the past five weeks.

Maamria's hands are tied by financial constraints and he tried to give himself more room for manoeuvre by transfer-listing Paul Tait, Kevin Townson and Chris Williams last Thursday.

It all adds up to a fantastic opportunity for Rushden, who are starting to show the form of potential play-off contenders.
In recent weeks they have recorded thumping 5-0 victories Solihull Moors and Oxford and secured a 3-1 FA Cup first-round success over Macclesfield. And they were unlucky to lose 2-1 at leaders Aldershot last Saturday.

Hitchin took Weymouth to a replay in their FA Cup fourth qualifying-round clash, but they can make amends by notching an FA Trophy win at Carshalton.

The Herfordshire side are second from bottom in the British Gas Premier, but they are improving and this was obvious when they drew 1-1 at league leaders Hemel Hempstead 11 days ago.

Hitchin should be competitive against a Carshalton side who are 18th in the Ryman Premier.

Heybridge are overpriced at 9-2 to win their Ryman Premier clash at promotion-chasing Ramsgate. Swifts are unbeaten in their last six league matches.

Recommendations
Rushden & Diamonds, 3pts 20-21
Hitchin, 2pts 11-5
Heybridge, 2pts 9-2
