Re: 26-27th April Scots Premier
From BBC
BBC SPORT | Football | Scottish Premier | Aberdeen v Hibernian
Quote:
Aberdeen will have Darren Mackie and Karim Touzani back for the visit of Hibernian after injury.
Jackie McNamara left the club during the week and Jamie Smith, Richie Byrne and Lee Mair are joined on the sidelines by Sone Aluko.
Hibs will be without Merouane Zemmama for the rest of the season as they continue their European push.
Chris Hogg, Kevin McCann and Brian Kerr are still injured, although skipper Rob Jones returns.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Aberdeen (from): Langfield, Maybury, Considine, Diamond, Bus, Touzani, Nicholson, Foster, Walker, Severin, Duff, De Visscher, Young, Lovell, Miller, Maguire, Mackie, Jonathan Smith, Soutar.
Hibernian (from): McNeil, Gathuessi, Canning, Jones, Zarabi, Beuzelin, Murray, Rankin, Shiels, Nish, Fletcher, Ma-Kalambay, Benjelloun, Morais, Stevenson, Chisholm, Donaldson, Campbell

Also Doddy's Predictions...
Quote:
THIS WEEK'S PREDICTIONS
SATURDAY
Aberdeen v Hibernian
Aberdeen made life difficult for Celtic last weekend with a stuffy performance and they were unfortunate to have a late goal disallowed.
The Dons have been able to raise their game for the bigger matches this season and this one should fall into that category.
Hibs turned in a good display to get a point at Tannadice last week but they will miss Merouane Zemmama because he's a player that can create something out of nothing.
They are still in the hunt for third spot and I'm sure Hibs will be up for the battle.
Prediction: 1-1
Team news
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hearts v Inverness CT
Hearts put in a decent performance last Saturday and scored some nice goals against St Mirren.
The pressure is off for both teams and I expect an open, attractive game, with home advantage edging it for Hearts.
Inverness had a great win last week when I fancied them to struggle against Kilmarnock.
That's two wins on the bounce and confidence will be on the up after a long losing sequence for Craig Brewster's team.
Prediction: 2-1
Team news
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Kilmarnock v Gretna
Killie had a bad day at Inverness last weekend and Jim Jefferies will be keen to get that out of the system as quickly as possible.
It's been a season to forget for them but, if the home team play to their capabilities, this could be a comprehensive victory.
Gretna have stopped leaking goals in recent weeks but I bet they just wish the season was over.
They have a few youngsters looking to make a mark but I think they could struggle if Killie score early on.
Prediction: 2-0
Team news
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Motherwell v Dundee Utd
Motherwell are leading the race for third place and are in a strong position thanks to their surprise win at Celtic a few weeks ago.
They have had a break since Celtic got revenge at Fir Park and they might think a point is a good result in this one.
Dundee United, on the other hand, will throw everything they've got at winning it, since games are running out.
This is a key battle for the Uefa Cup place and I fancy United to come out on top.
Prediction: 1-2
Team news
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
St Mirren v Falkirk
St Mirren played well at Tynecastle and scored two excellent goals in what was an entertaining game.
Motivation is always an issue in these kind of games and players can switch off at this stage of the season, which is frustrating for coaches and fans.
Falkirk might have had some stuffing knocked out of them after missing the top six and they played out a poor draw with Gretna last week.
They have not been conceding goals but the Bairns haven't been scoring many either.
Prediction: 1-0
Team news
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
SUNDAY
Celtic v Rangers
Celtic will be desperate to repeat their recent dramatic Old Firm win and it should be another fast and furious affair.
It will be tense and Rangers have such a strong defence but I think Celtic will prevail and keep the title race going.
Rangers have lost a few key players and the games are coming thick and fast but tiredness will never be an issue in these fixtures.
A draw is the most I can see Rangers getting and, while I still make them as favourites for the league, they might play for one and come up short.
Prediction: 1-0

Re: 26-27th April Scots Premier
PS, I'd go along with the Hibees at Aberdeen today although they've not got the best of records up there.

Re: 26-27th April Scots Premier

It's the fourth and final Old Firm clash of the season at Celtic Park on Sunday - the third in the last month - and this one is as hard to predict as any.
Rangers won the first two games of the season 3-0 and 1-0 but Celtic took the honours just last week when Jan Venegoor of Hesselink's last-gasp header gave them a vital 2-1 win.
But even with that success, the champions are still outsiders to retain the title, even though they are two points clear, as they have played three games more than their great rivals.
A win on Sunday would take them five clear and the pressure would really be on Rangers, but with three games in hand, the Gers could potentially go four points ahead again, so this match is another must-win for Celtic.
They deserved to pick up the three points at Parkhead last week and will feel confident about doing the same again, but once again, they were unconvincing in the 1-0 win over Aberdeen, and should have drawn the game had Zander Diamond's injury-time equaliser not been wrongly disallowed by referee Ian Brines - a mistake he later admitted to.
And then Rangers, the following day, struggled to beat First Division St Johnstone, needing a penalty shoot-out to eventually see them off in their Scottish Cup semi-final.
Both teams will be well up for this game of course, but it's incredibly difficult to predict the outcome, given the importance of the match.
Celtic simply have to win, while a draw for Rangers would all-but seal the title for them so they will be more than happy to sit back and soak up the pressure before hitting on the break, a tactic that has worked so well for them in Europe this season.
Rangers have won just twice in the east end of Glasgow since 2000 but the 11/10 on offer for a home win seems too short considering Celtic's recent performances, especially at home - it was three games without a goal before last week - but we are reluctant to back an away win in a match Rangers can afford to draw.
The anytime goalscorer market proved fruitful last week when we tipped Nacho Novo and we'll dip into that again but this time go for a Celtic player, Shunsuke Nakamura.
He enjoyed his best performance by far in an Old Firm game in last week's win, scoring the opening goal with a brilliant 30-yard drive which flashed past Allan McGregor in the Rangers goal.
And he would have had a second had it not been for Carlos Cuellar's handball on the line for which he was sent off.
Given the importance of this game, it may be decided by a set-piece, or a moment of magic, and the one player who can provide that in the home ranks is the Japanese playmaker.
And it certainly wouldn't be the first time the same player has scored twice in an Old Firm game in the space of weeks.
Most recently, Dado Prso netted in 2-1 and 2-0 wins for Rangers within 10 days of each other in November 2004 while Peter Lovenkrands managed to do the same in games 13 days apart in 2002.
Also for Rangers, Jorg Albertz scored a memorable double in a week in 1998, while for Celtic, Henrik Larsson scored twice in three weeks against Rangers in early 2004.
So the precedent is there, and although all those occasions included cup games, the importance of this match for the home side makes it as much like a cup match as a league game can be and Nakamura has the ability from free-kicks and from long-range shots to do the same again - especially as Rangers will be without first-choice goalkeeper McGregor this time.
Neil Alexander may be a very able understudy, but Gordon Strachan will surely call on his men to put him under as much pressure as possible from shots and crosses early on.
The 5/1 available on Nakamura looks pretty generous to us.

Re: 26-27th April Scots Premier
I'm amazed that Mr Fixit and others was tipping Hibs. Aberdeen played pretty well against Celtic last week and if was a bit more attacking minded could have actually got something out of the game but last 10 minutes - Aberdeen was all over Celtic and a poor ref decision cost them. On to Hibs, Hibs have a terrible record up at Pittodrie and Aberdeen always seem to play well against them. Last Saturday was no different and 2-1 flattered Hibs which Aberdeen dominated from start to finish although if you watch bbc highlights you would think different but they are very poor highlights considering Aberdeen hit the bar and also Hibs keeper made some fine saves but Hibs was very poor.
Aberdeen still have a small chance of 3rd, only 6pts behind and must win every game - big ask but results have gone there way and need the old firm to win their games. They are playing United on saturday at Pittodrie and have a good record against them recently although Levein has an excellent record against Calderwood.
