Know what you mean rc but this isn't a Best Bet of the Week thread, it's a Place Your Bets thread. The point of this thread before was to list down your football bets just as reference point with the explanations in the individual threads. That's why I was gutted when my post didn't appear on here as I had to trawl around my accounts working out what bets I'd placed again.

What seems to have happened now is that people are wanting to win £20 and putting down big accys in the hope of landing one and therefore the prize. I doubt most of them are being backed. And what about everyone's other bets? If the bets on this thread are the only ones people are placing, no wonder the bookies make money. It's like accy-heaven on here. And with respect, I've got no interest in seeing whether someone's 100/1 8 team accumulator has won. I have got interest in seeing why team A will be team B with reasoning to see if it adds anything to my own bettting decisions.

So the first thing that needs to be decided is is this a 'Bet of The Week' or 'Place Your Bets' thread. If it's a Best Bet thread, then I'd agree with all of your suggestions. Particularly the point about explanations being compulsory in the individual threads.

From a forum point of view, isn't the point of giving away cash to encourage posters. So if they want to win the dosh, make them work for it and post their reasoning in the individual threads. That's what the forum needs after all.

Why not have a Bet of the Week thread with the prize where you put down 1 bet with a link to your reasoning in the thread. And also have a Place Your Bets thread for people like me who just want a reference point to calculate their winnings. I think the several threads have got themselves merged together into one here.

Agree with all of that, Wayne - I've no objections to the Place Your Bets thread, I just don't think it works as a competition. As you say, maybe there need to be 2 separate threads, a place your bets thread and a bet of the week thread.

I may be a bit biased being the innaugaral winner of this comp , but its what I love about this forum , a comp with a prize is set up , but rules are a bit vague , deciding the winner is difficult , we get into a discussion , no decision is made ...its the great Daily Punt way , I love it.

Not so sure if Paddy Power love it but they also love controversy , who else would pay out on Stoke getting relegated, got them publicity , Stoke go and win on Saturday , so some more publicity for Paddy Power ...fantastic public relations

p.s. now that the olympics are over we could get the chinese boxing and taekwando judges to decide on the winner

well im easy and i dont want to get involved. all i did was ask paddy power to sponsor our 'Place your Bet' thread as i hate the place your bet thread truth be told as i would rather people where placing their bets on the other threads but anyhow. we tried moving the place your bets thread to the top most forum before and it was never used. Maybe it would be now. I dont want to get involved and im sorry if i already have when under the influence this morning. Can i just say that i suppose i aint happy with the surrent set up. I only needed to look at Kegman's Man U to win 4-0 bet on this weeks thread I honestly cant think about things like this but tell me the way you think we shoudl run this (best post? best...?) im easy. As long as Paddy Power are getting the promotion i offered them when they agreed to sponsor it imm sure we can sort it out. I said a fixed thread in Brit forum so i dont really want to hide it off elsewhere. Its always seemed to me that any sport can be mnentioned on the 'place your bets thread' and its only in brit forum as this is our main forum as we are a brit football betting forum predomanitly. If there's no winner this week then we can make it a roll-over

well it looks like ive got it working. Seems quite good to me with a bit of tweaking. i quite like it. Waht you think? We could still let paddy power sponsor the PLACE YOUR BET THREAD and that just goes as it did and the 20 quid prize will go to the best post of the week. What you think?
