Re: CC League 2 - 8th & 9th August

3 fancies for me in here tbh. Bristol Rovers took a real kicking off the Posh on saturday & wont be looking forward to Wycombe coming calling, alththis needs more research.

Walsall have had 2 helpful opening fixtures but by all accounts looked decent yesterday although they need to tighten up in the middle. Roper & Westwood are back available but Gerrard & Pickern started off well

Swindon welcome Barnet & could well be worth backing

I havent read all of Saturdays match reports yet but at quick glance i'll be looking at Darlington and Peterborough who both won comfortably, both are at a fair price for playing two teams that lost.

I think Walsall too Swoop but it needs to be a better price than that for me though, a good start from them.

Chester and Grimsby maybe?

Accrington Stanley - Darlington

Well, I am ready to back Darlington again just 2 days after we earned some cash with them. They started superbly winning their openning game at home 4-0 and surely team morale is sky high now. In that game macclesfield started pretty good, but after 15 minutes of play Darlo took control of the game and never let it go. New / old / striker Conlon scored a hattrick in his debut and the midfield and the attack were both simply magnificent as expected. No doubt as I predicted after the Summer break Darlington has a very strong team for this division.

Accrington lost 2-0 away at Chester in their return to league football and seem that they were outplayed by the hosts during the whole game. Some bad defensive errors, lack of concentration and skills perhaps. That was their first game in L2 for a while and its normal to be a bid nervous, so perhaps we can expect them to play better now, especially at home.
Accrington had a great home record last season, but IMO there is quite a difference between the Conference and league football, so I wouldnt take this in mind.
Darlington changed a lot during the summer, so their previous record isnt so important as well.

All in all we saw a struggling Accies side in the first game of the season and now just 2 days later they are facing even a bigger challenge in the face of Darlo. So IMO Accrington will have to wait a bit more before getting their first points in league football since a while.

Darlington 5/10 @2.70 PaddyPower / 2.75 in Betfred, Betway /

Re: CC League 2 - 8th & 9th August

Swindon caught my eye too, but I just read the report from the away win at hartlepool and I aint ipressed at all. Seems the home side has put them on constant pressure and only an amazing debut by swindon new goalie - Brezovan I think was his name, saved them that day. The lad saved 2 :loon penalties / one with a rebound / and also some other shots on goal, some very dangerous from what Ive read. So they came back with all the 3 points, but not fully convinced they deserved them. Still, a completely new game now and against a weaker opposition and infront of the home crowd, but the price just seems a bit low to me. But will give it a good thinking later.

Re: CC League 2 - 8th & 9th August

Darlington manager was just on talksport and he seemed to think the 4-0 scoreline flattered them a bit on saturday. As zzax says Macclesfield started ok and Darlo could have found themselves a couple down.

Re: CC League 2 - 8th & 9th August

Darlo could of had 6 and Macclesfield 2 ? so Id say 4-0 was a fair result. Macclesfield hit the post early on but after the first goal on 12 mins Darlo settled and controlled the game easily.

Looks like Accrington struggled against Chester and I dont think they'l find it much easier against Darlo's new look team.

The classic under-estimation.I'm in total agreement with Komp on Accrington. Accy is a death hole, Darlo will get one hell of a fight and if they underestimate Accrington they will lose. That's not seeing a penny of my money.

Wrote this this afternoon in a hurry as I won't be around tomorrow. These are the games I could be interested in:

08 Aug 19:45 Bury v Chester 7/5 9/4 8/5 - Should be an away win on paper. Don't think I can bring myself to trust either of them though.

08 Aug 19:45 Hereford v Lincoln City 1/1 23/10 9/4 - Home win. Strong
start on Saturday, won comfortably a game where they were far from on
top. At home they'll be a different kettle of fish against a Lincoln
side I expect to struggle this season, and one who struggled against the
terminally bad Notts County at the weekend.

08 Aug 19:45 Macclesfield v Hartlepool 13/10 23/10 17/10 - Can Macc
bounceback from a 4-0 defeat? Both sides have lost key players over the
summer, both looking to bounceback from defeats on Saturday. On paper I
think Macc who were battered by Darlington look v.weak. In contrast
Hartlepool (missing two penalties) were mugged by Swindon and IMO are as
good as the Darlo side which spanked Macc on Saturday.

08 Aug 19:45 Mansfield v Milton Keynes Dons 6/4 9/4 6/4 - I tipped
Mansfield as a potential playoff side, but I'm not sure you'll see too
many 6/4's about MK Dons this season.

Must admit I like the look of Hartlepool given they were unlucky at the weekend and Macclesfield are poor. Possibly Hereford too.

Also wrote this on the Swindon v Barnet game which I'll be at tomorrow night.

They really should batter us horribly but bare in mind our away record against the 4 promoted teams last season was P4 W2 D2. Swindon should be promotion candidates.

Grinding out draws we can do. Defending we can do, it's attacking we're shit at. Also consider that Swindon were battered for 90mins at Hartlepool and were saved by a string of great saves by their goalkeeper, who also saved 2 penalties. Swindon are IMO horribly overated in this division and on saturday although we were less interesting than drying paint for 60 mins as soon as we changed the front 2 we looked dangerous, we'll have plenty of pace on the counter attack if Pf drops the front 2 from saturday.

For me odds of around 1/2 are an un-necessary risk, no bet.
