Well, I will not be disappointed whatever the outcome tomorrow night. The lads will put 110% in and they have another great chance to upset the premiership fancy boys. Saltergate will be packed, the weather will be freezing and the atmosphere will be electric. Will Charlton bottle it or will they produce a bit of premiership class to win the game.
If I had to have a bet it would be on the draw, but I have high hopes.

Re: Carling Cup ( 7th - 8th Nov )
From sportinglife.
Seems Charlton are motivated and will field best posible eleven with Darren Bent.
Quote:
DOWIE DETERMINED TO SURVIVE TEST
Charlton boss Iain Dowie is determined not to become battling Chesterfield's third successive Barclays Premiership scalp in the Carling Cup.
Coca-Cola League One strugglers Chesterfield, beaten by two stoppage-time Gillingham goals on Saturday, have already knocked out Manchester City and West Ham.
Charlton, still at the foot of the top flight despite keeping a fourth consecutive clean sheet in their win over City on Saturday, go to Saltergate with Dowie insisting: "If we can match their heart and soul we can go through."
He added: "I know they have taken some big scalps already and are a well-disciplined, well-organised side - just like their manager Roy McFarland was as a player.
"But we are in good heart after our recent run - and if we go there with the right attitude and spirit we will be all right."
Dowie will not be resting key players.
"It will be a very competitive game, but this competition is not a distraction from our league fight," he said.
"I'm not going to start mixing the changes around too much, because that's one of the best ways to get knocked out - and we don't want to do that.
"We want to reach the later stages of this competition at least, and I'm going for it in a very forthright fashion."
Dowie left out Darren Bent for the last round against Bolton when the striker was nursing a hamstring strain - and on-loan goalkeeper Scott Carson has not played at all yet in the competition for Charlton.
But the indications are that both key men will face Chesterfield, reserve goalkeeper Thomas Myhre still ruled out with an ankle injury and winger Dennis Rommedahl sidelined by a groin strain which forced his substitution on Saturday.
Midfielder Matt Holland is another doubt - having played the entire second half with blurred vision after a knock in the eye at the weekend - while centre-half Talal El Karkouri is struggling with a hamstring strain and Jonathan Fortune may step in.

Re: Carling Cup ( 7th - 8th Nov )
I fancy Arsenal @ 2.5. Some first team players should be rested, but it's good imo. We all saw how Arsenal choke lately, and some players just need rest, as a team need some fresh blood. I'm not saying they are tired physicaly, but after such a disasterous apps, imo they should rest for mental purposes, couse their morale can't be high after loosing or drawin game that they should won(in such a pathetic way ). Arsenal have nice depth in the squad, so it shouldn't be some amateur team after some squad rotations .
But i would like to listen about Everton aproach/squad news.
I know it's a just cup game, but simply price on Arsenal is too high too miss, and represent some value imo.
On the other hand, i aint expert on british football and may be wrong though.

Re: Carling Cup ( 7th - 8th Nov )
Really just gotta wait for that Arsenal team news Ori. I mean if they put out a first choice side I agree its a big price but going by whats gone with them in Carling Cup in the past I dont think theres much chance of that. Its usually a totally transformed side. Well I hope so anyway

Yes, and just low stake anyway ... don't like to bet on domestic cups in pre-quarter final stages too much

Re: Carling Cup ( 7th - 8th Nov )

Re: Carling Cup ( 7th - 8th Nov )
I am looking at Liverpool (-1) @ 7/4 with Skybet and a crazy double/treble with Villa/Everton and possibly Chesterfield.
I have a really good feeling about Everton and Villa in Cup Competitions. I have them both to win outright the CC and also the FA Cup too. I have a hunch.
MON will be more than happy to win this trophy again and you get the feeling that Everton need a trophy. I will want to see some team news before I go for Villa, but everything I have read so far has me positive. Randy 'the legend' Lerner is paying for Villa fans to attend the match. I think the 6000 or so fans will out sing the collection of mockneys/koreans and rent boys down at the bridge. They will be the inspiration to win the game.
I have such a good feeling about this one like.
Swoops - am I going mad in my old age?

Re: Carling Cup ( 7th - 8th Nov )
I'm going for a Man Utd/Charlton double.
Both seem to have decided that strongish squads are the way to go so I'm happy to play this.

Re: Carling Cup ( 7th - 8th Nov )
Thatll be from too much sitting and typing AFU.
I too have good feelings about Everton, I think 6/4+ is a good bet as long as Arsenal put out the team I think they will.

Re: Carling Cup ( 7th - 8th Nov )
I agree it's a corking price IMO , Moyles must be targeting this comp as can win venture . If they start as they usually do at a high tempo I fancy them to score a couple before half time if Arse field the kids.
