Re: CIS Insurance Cup 7-8th Nov
Celtic will definitely play a number of fringe players against Falkirk. This is the 3rd season running Celtic have played Falkirk at home in this cup and they have fielded plenty of reserves in both previous matches.
Last season it was 1-1 after 90mins with Celtic winning in extra time and the season before Celtic won 8-1.
Falkirk are going well and as has been mentioned above gave Celtic a very hard game a few weeks ago in the league, going down 1-0 to a fairly late goal. Celtic have good depth to their squad and players such as Balde and Graveson who are coming back from injury look likely to play. Jan Vennegoor of Hessellink might feature too as he needs games to recover his sharpness after a lie off.
Falkirk on the handicap looks a reasonable shout given their current good run of results, though without wanting to take anything away from their last two goal laden wins, it should be borne in mind that these matches were against the bottom two teams in the SPL. I don't think they'll find it easy scoring goals at Parkhead.
Hibs and Hearts will be at full strength, though in the case of Hearts the players and fans opinion of what is their best team, seems to differ from whoever is picking it. Hibs should have beaten them a couple of weeks ago in the league but their blundering goalkeeper is a liability and has cost them dearly for some time now. A hard one to call.
Defeat for Rangers would be unthinkable in the present situation but there's no doubt they are vulnerable and morale must be low. PLG can't afford to shuffle the team very much. Would be a brave man or a fool who piles in at those odds.
I fancy Kilmarnock to beat Motherwell at Rugby Park as they will be all out to prove the 5-0 drubbing at Fir Park in the league was a freak result. That game sparked an upturn in Motherwell's fortunes but they look a bit short in attack. Killie have been playing well since that mini disaster and have left Edinburgh in recently with 3 points from Tynecastle and a draw at Easter Road on Saturday.
