Re: Welsh Premier League 10th/11th Nov

Last week was Welsh Cup weekend , the latest news for three clubs that need to be considered before betting , all from welsh-premier.com

Quote:
CAERSWS have held crisis talks with their bank in an attempt to stave off a financial crisis.
The Bluebirds have been struggling since long serving chairman Garth Williams decided to step down earlier this season, and it is understood the mid-Wales outfit could run out of cash before the end of the season.
Cut backs are inevitable, with even the playing budget under threat, as they battle to survive.
At a special meeting on Wednesday night, the club considered becoming a limited liability company but acting chairman John Baker says: "The meeting did not go as well as I hoped, we only had about a dozen in attendance, although we do have parties interested in working to ensure the club's financial future."
Baker says that an advisory committee has been formed from some of those present and will work with the club's treasurer.
"We also had a meeting with our bank manager. He's a fair man and we believe he will listed to what we have to say. It's obvious we have to tighten our belts and make financial cut-backs, however we have not discussed players' wages."
Inaugural members of the league, Caersws play in a village with a population of only 1,000 and have seen attendances slump from an average of 385 two seasons ago to just 206 in the current campaign, a fall of 46%.

CWMBRAN Town have denied any knowledge of a takeover, amidst claims by a mystery bidder that an offer has been made to the cash-strapped Gwent outfit.
The would-be buyer claims a bid was lodged at a meeting with Cwmbran's board last week, but Crows' secretary Ian Greaney would only confirm that a new main sponsor was being sought and that a meeting would take place with someone who was interested in a promotional venture at a future game.
Cwmbran have struggled financially since the retirement of sole benefactor and chairman John Colley before last season and, by last October, the majority of senior players had quit along with manager Brian Coyne.
The players were not paid after last Saturday's 3-3 draw at Caersws, although they did receive their money on Tuesday.
The club has also been unable to afford a coach for some of their away fixtures and have been using a minibus to transport the players. Cwmbran have also started charging all committee members and the press to attend games at their stadium.

Quote:
EXPERIENCED Newtown duo Danny Desormeaux and Martyn Giles have left Latham Park.
Midfielder Desormeaux returns to West Cheshire Premier Division side Christleton, from whom he signed for Cefn Druids in the summer of 2002 along with his brother Joe.
He moved to the Robins in 2004/5 and has scored 16 Welsh Premier goals from 128 appearances, of which 69 were for the mid-Wales outfit.
Giles joined Newtown in the summer of 2003 after many years of Nationwide League football experience with West Bromwich Albion, Chester City and Shrewsbury Town, also playing in the Conference with Yeovil. He made 89 Welsh Premier starts for the Robins.

Re: Welsh Premier League 10th/11th Nov

Last Saturday saw my team Port beating Bangor in the Welsh Cup , they play again this Saturday .This time Bangor will be without a manager unless they appoint one very quickly.Port amazed me and won at TNS 2-1 on Tuesday in the quarter final of the league cup.Lets hope they can continue this cup form in the league which has been disappointing this season.

This is the match report from welsh-premier.com

Quote:
FAW Welsh Cup Round 3
Sat 4 November 2006 / The Traeth
Porthmadog FC 2-0 Bangor City

Gareth Parry 50'
Rhys Roberts 74'

PORTHMADOG finally got the better of their rivals in a Welsh Cup tie in a game that ended with the resignation of Bangor boss Clayton Blackmore.
The home side bossed the game throughout but took until the second half to turn their domination into goals, both of which came from Chris Evans set pieces.
Port's Danny Hughes struck the foot of an upright with a header as early as the third minute and visiting keeper Ian Havard then did well to get a glove on Carl Owen's flick.
Havard also saved from Owen and Chris Evans as Bangor failed to raise a worthwhile first half attack.
Nine minutes into the half an Evans corner was headed back across the box by Ryan Davies for Gareth Parry to fire home from close range. Bangor did force a couple of corners but their former Port strike partnership of Paul Roberts and Marc Lloyd Williams was shackled throughout. The hosts finally made the result safe on 75 minutes when another Evans corner caused problems for the Citizens. Another header back across goal found defender Rhys Roberts who saw his initial effort stopped by Havard but followed up to score.
Porthmadog were worthy winners of a game that failed to live up to its billing in terms of cup passion and commitment from the opposition
This season I have lost money everytime I have included Port in a bet , so giving this one a miss - on principle

Re: Welsh Premier League 10th/11th Nov

my first impressions about this weekend fixtures

Aberystwyth v Carmarthen - too tight to call
Rhyl v Cefn Druids - home win ...poor odds

Cwmbran v Connah's Quay - away win
Llanelli vAirbus - home win ...terrible odds
Newtown v Caernarfon - can Caernarfon win away against an out of sorts Newtown
Port Talbot v Caersws - home win ... worth considering
Porthmadog v Bangor - home win ...no bet [ not betting on my team again! ]
Welshpool v Haverfordwest - home win .. this is my bet of this weekend

that looks like a good call broms , both sides were very poor last season whose results have improved dramatically this season. Both sides have been scoring and leaking goals lately.
Connah's Quay improvement is due to their ability to score this season .Tommy Mutton has been influential in that aspect. He scored twice in their 3-1 Welsh cup win last week. They did lose 2-0 to Rhyl in the league cup on Tuesday when they had two players sent off.

Hi Ards ,I think this is the situation, so with no midweek matches for Bangor they are again suspended this weekend.

Sion Edwards ..2 games from 29/10/06

Adam Docker ...2 games from 29/10/06

Ricky Evans ...4 games from 22/10/06

Bangor are still managerless, player Mark Lloyd Williams has been mentioned . Bangor have approached Aber's boss Coyne [ who I think is the best manager in the league ] , but he says he is staying at Aber.

Aberystwyth v Carmarthen
Aber have played their best football away from home this season.
Aber have influential Glyndwr Hughes out and keeper Morgan has an ankle ligament injury.

I'm giving this game a miss bettingwise.

Rhyl v Cefn Druids
Rhyl had a fiery cup match last Saturday, Powell was sent off so he will be suspended for tonight match.
Cefn have not played for the last two weekends, so they will be a bit rusty.

Rhyl to win @ h.t. @1.40 ...2pts

Rhyl @1.16 is very prohibitive ,so I looked at h.t./f.t which was offered @1.40 , I then checked h.t. odds and they were also 1.40 .If you are considering h.t./f.t. bets check half time results odds as well.
I spotted this anomaly in the Llanelli match with bet365

Llanelli /Llanelli h.t./f.t. @1.30

Llanelli half time @1.33 have I missed something ?

I assumed this was an error and decided to put 3 pts on the h.t.

I now realise it is a bet365 ploy to get stupid people like me to bet at odds that I would usually ignore.

Traeth, I don't whether you know but Betway offer odds on the Welsh league and they often have 1 or to good prices - they have connah's quay for 2.9 this week, for example.

Expekt also do the Welsh league and their prices for HT/FT or HT result are usually better than bet365 - for llanelli they are 1.4 for HT win or 1.45 for HT/FT.

Just thought I'd let you know in case you were unaware

thanks for the info , have seen EXPEKT when I use oddschecker.

I have taken the Connah's Quay @2.5 last night , so I've missed out there , and on checking team news ..Defender Chris Taylor and captain Limbert are suspended following their midweek red card. They do recall Gary Pinch.
Cwmbran did not play last week , which was Welsh Cup week .
The financial problems Cwmbran suffered last year look like reappearing this season as they were late paying their players two weeks ago.Last year was similar , and ended up with players leaving or not turning up for their away fixtures. No news this week.

Last night's results

Welsh Premier League
Aberystwyth 4-2 Carmarthen
Rhyl 2-2 Newi Cefn Druids
