Welshpool - TNS
Welshpool beat Porthmadog on Saturday 3-1 , Port scored first Welshpool then scored three in the first half and defended their lead in the second half.
TNS beat Airbus 7-0 on Friday to make it 13 goals in two matches. Welshpool pitch is one of the worse in the league so I cannot see it being so high scoring this time . Boxing Day match below

The News Saints 6 Welshpool 0

TNS turned in a display worthy of champions to end Welshpool's 11-match unbeaten run in the Welsh Premier in emphatic style.
A hat-trick from John Toner led the rout at Treflan, with the defending champions staying hot on the trail of leaders Rhyl as Pool struggled to make any impression in what was a one-sided derby.
Toner, who took his tally to 14 for the season in the goal spree, put the Saints on course with a ninth-minute opener when lobbing keeper Ged McGuigan after being put through by Greg Stones.
Two goals before half-time effectively put the game beyond the visitors' reach, with Toner tucking into an empty net after McGuigan had failed to deal with a Phil Baker free kick on 37 minutes.
The striker then completed his treble five minutes before the break when being set up courtesy of Alfie Carter's deflected shot.
Pool, disrupted by injuries to key defenders, mounted just two worthwhile efforts on goal in a miserable afternoon and went further behind on the hour when John Leah's shot beat McGuigan.
Stones then added a fifth on 77 minutes when netting from a tight angle following a left-wing cross from Leah.
Carter then spurned a penalty after being fouled by Jonathan Jones with his spot-kick being turned round the post by McGuigan.
But the front runner was not to be denied in the last minute when converting Stones' left-wing cross from close range to complete the rout.
TNS defender Chris King, meanwhile, joined the fore late on for his first taste of action since breaking his ankle in a pre-season friendly.

Connah's Quay v Rhyl
Rhyl had a 1-0 home win Saturday thanks to a Cwmbran own goal, from the match report the Boxing Day match was not so clear cut and home advantage may benefit C.Q.

Rhyl 2 Connah's Quay Nomads 1

TOP SCORER Lee Hunt's 79th minute header secured Rhyl a priceless victory which keeps them top of the table as Nomads reinforced the pre-match view of Rhyl boss John Hulse that they were in the title race to stay.
Hulse, who had accurately predicted a tough task from a Nomads side he rated, said afterwards: "We made hard work of it but I felt we just about shaded it overall."
The deadlock was broken as early as the tenth minute when Lilywhites striker Dave Cameron laid the ball off for defender Mark Powell whose 18-yard shot took a wicked deflection on its way into the Nomads net beyond the hapless Paul Smith.
Gareth Wilson almost added a second when he fired inches over for the hosts before Rhyl keeper John Gann spilled a free kick from former Rhyl ace Marc Limbert and was fortunate to find Craig Hutchinson's follow-up lacking power with an equaliser beckoning.
Hunt's snap volley went desperately close before Nomads drew level on 37 minutes. A free kick for a moderate challenge was awarded Nomads outside the area and Chris Sergeant's right foot strike flew unerringly into the top corner.
Rhyl almost regained the lead just before the break when Marc Connolly's 20-yard free kick was acrobatically tipped over by keeper Smith.
Early in the second half Gann again failed to hold onto Tommy Mutton's powerful shot from outside the box, but once more no Nomads player was following up to punish the error.
The Lilies were doing most of the attacking, but found Nomads defence up to the challenge as attempts by Connolly and Stuart Graves failed to seriously trouble the alert Smith.
On 78 minutes Rhyl should have gone in front again when Hunt headed on Adie Moody's free kick, but substitute Andy Moran could only guide the ball comfortably into the relieved Smith's arms from close range.
Moments later, however, Graves fed Moran down the left and his brilliant cross to the back post was emphatically headed in by Hunt who celebrated a gem for his 15th goal of the campaign.
Defender Dave Swanick almost earned Nomads a last gasp equaliser as he let fly but his right foot shot was deflected wide as Rhyl collected their second hair line win over Nomads with an intriguing third encounter lined up at Flint on New Year's Day.

Re: Welsh Premier League 1st Jan

Bangor [7th]v Caernarfon [17th]
I must admit that I did expect Caernarfon to get their first home win in the derby match on Boxing Day , the odds for Caernarfon was 6.0 so 11.5 for this match when Caernarfon has a better record away from home. Even though Caernarfon are last in the league I do not believe that they are the worse team in the league.
I think Airbus , Newtown and Caersws are inferior to Caernarfon . I have an affinity to Caernarfon which does make me biased but at those odds I will have small stakes on the draw and away win.

Caernarfon Town 0 Bangor City 1

LEE WEBBER’S 10-yard bullet header provided Bangor with the vital difference over Caernarfon in a Boxing Day derby that pulled in 1,007 fans.
The decisive moment came on 74 minutes when Sion Edwards swept over a cross from the left after Town’s Kieron Quinn had diverted Marc Lloyd Williams’s goal-bound shot.
Little else separated the two sides with Caernarfon belying their league basement embarrassment by matching their near neighbours.
The Canaries, parading six ex-City players, forced keeper Ian Havard into action in the early stages, when he denied John Rowley and Chris Jones.
Tommy Harrison directed a headed chance off target from a clear position.
Lloyd Williams had a drive blocked by Paul Pritchard’s legs and raised a 30-yarder too high, while Ashley Stott miscued with a shot and a header.
Havard had to deal with a long-range shot from Quinn at the start of the second half, and City had a major escape when Martin Beattie cleared the line from Mark Thomas.
Bangor believed briefly they had gone ahead when debutant Paul Hopkins found the net, but the flag was raised for offside.
Edwards was denied by Pritchard just ahead of the pressure that climaxed with Webber’s winner.

Re: Welsh Premier League 1st Jan

the first match off in Wales and more to come as its still raining here

from welsh-premier site

Quote:
THE game between Welshpool Town and The New Saints is the first of the New Year's Day fixtures to fall to the weather.
With the Maesydre pitch already in poor shape following Saturday's league game between the Lilywhites and Porthmadog, Monday's game was called-off at lunchtime on Sunday.
With heavy rain across most of the country more postponements are likely. A pitch inspection is already planned at 10 o'clock on Monday at Cae-y-Castell, where Connah's Quay Nomads are due to host Welsh Premier leaders Rhyl.
