Paul Le Guen vs Barry Ferguson

Well, the books are starting to open up now. Apparently you can get odds on which one will leave the club first. Currently at most bookies;

PLG 11/10
Ferguson 4/6

Would expect there to be books opening soon with Ferguson specials; what club/league he'll go to etc etc.

Apparently Sky Sports news had an interview with Nacho Novo today and he was saying that he trained with the rest of the players today, that there was no visible problems between the other players and Ferguson and that David Murray had now returned to the UK from his hols and was talking to Le Guen today after training.

In case anyones interested.

Re: Paul Le Guen vs Barry Ferguson

And just to add to the above, teams are priced to sign him;

Everton 5/2, Newcastle 4/1 and Villa 11/4.

Everton was the 1st one that sprang to my mind Dave. Is it Moyes thats still there? Ferguson is bound to pick a team in blue to play for. I don't rate him i have to admit though some do. I dont really get to see him play mind. Wasnt his time at Blackburn a bit of a dissapointment?

Re: Paul Le Guen vs Barry Ferguson

Don't think it would be a problem for him to go to any of the teams mentioned. He played with Arteta when he was at Rangers and playing for O'Neill at Villa would be fine because everyone knows that players and managers of the Old Firm teams get on fine with each other (mostly). His time at Blackburn was a bit hard because he suffered a broken kneecap (in 3 places IIRC) which kept him out for a good part of his 18 months there. His wife and kids found it difficult to settle in the area though which was the main concern as Fergie is definitely a family orientated person. By all accounts, when he played for Blackburn he was a good player, nothing spectacular, but good enough and was made captain and grabbed a few goals down that way as well.

Newcastle might not be a bad option for him, but I doubt if his family would want to move again, even if it is only 3 hours down the road. Favourite opinion seems to be that he would go to Everton on loan and basically wait for PLG to fuck it up more and let the fans sort him out.

Season ticket renewal is just around the corner and Murray knows that fans = money, especially when its starting to flow out the game a lot more in recent times.

Zenit St Petersburg and ex-manager Advocaat emerging as outsiders.

If the wife won't go as far south as Blackburn, I think Advocaat and Russia have nae chance!

Re: Paul Le Guen vs Barry Ferguson

Anyone find odds on Ferguson staying at Rangers? Looking at all the reports etc it seems to indicate he will stay now. Chairman looks as if he is going to save his own ass as usual by backing the manger he hired, but getting talks underway to keep Ferguson at Ibrox, so keeping the fans happy.

Re: Paul Le Guen vs Barry Ferguson

Is there not a precedent for this.

Was Lorenzo Amoruso not stripped of captaincy but advocaat but stayed in team?

Then he was moved to Blackburn
