Re: Fa & Carling Cup: 23/24th Jan

After todays result i suppose it depends what team Arsenal put out and how high on Wegners list of priorites he see's the carling cup, Spurs will be up for it as its a local Derby and a great chance to win their first bit of silverware for yrs.

Same too with Chelsea as it could be the only silverware they win this season if things continue as they are for them.

As a bit of a young yido Slick the spurs v Arsenal semi is exciting me a bit. thats some price for Arsenal surely? Yeah i know we never beat them and we're always unlucky or just plain out played. Tottenham i mean btw I would love to see a spurs victory and then for them to gub Chelsea 4-0 in the final but my head says Arsenal and over 2.5

Luton v QPR i dont know anything about barr again a few goals poss.

I suppose a lot will depend whether Henry plays or not as he has turned there season around since his return.
But as you say i can see goals in that match.

Well, Arsenal has show against Liverpool (FT 3:6) that their "second team" is respectable. If you ask me, it's better to stay away from this derby. Just watch it and enjoy, without betting on any side.

Luton v QPR
Luton manager Mike Newell has a number of injury worries to occupy his thoughts as he prepares for the FA Cup third-round replay against QPR.

Saturday's 2-0 league defeat to Barnsley proved doubly costly as Warren Feeney and Leon Barnett were forced off with injuries.

Forward Feeney suffered medial knee ligament damage so will not feature against Rangers.

Defender Barnett picked up a knee problem of his own in his first match back after suspension and is also unlikely to play.

Fellow defender Kevin Foley may feature after recovering from a heel injury.

The Barnsley defeat was Dean Kiely's last game in his loan spell from Portsmouth, so Marlon Beresford will step up from the bench.

Long-term injury victims Markus Heikkinen (gashed leg), Paul Underwood (illness) and Sam Parkin (ankle) remain sidelined along with young forward Calvin Andrew (knee).

QPR could receive a boost in the shape of a surprise return for Gareth Ainsworth.

The midfielder has not featured since suffering an ankle injury in the 1-0 win at Cardiff in November, but is pushing for a place in John Gregory's team again.

Definitely available again is Lee Cook, who sat out the 2-0 defeat to Southampton on Saturday because of a one-match ban.

Marc Bircham picked up a hamstring injury in that match and is doubtful to face the Hatters, while Martin Rowlands (calf) and Marcus Bignot (knee) definitely will not be fit.
I was looking at the over 2.5 then the away win then the home win. No bet for me.

Komp, you are right, Luton-QPR is no bet. Luton with some important players injured, QPR with some players back, both out of form, it's better to skip it.

Because of the points you've mentioned bosman I'm going to have alittle tickle on the away team here.

QPR have a poor away record but so did Barnsley and they won 2-0 at the weekend at Luton. Agreed both teams are poor but I'm on the away.

Re: Fa & Carling Cup: 23/24th Jan

Seems by all accounts Arsenal are going to play the fringe squad with Henry to date not in the provisional line up, I'd have to fancy Spurs at home if thats the case as they are a hard team to beat at home this term.
Arsenal still have enough talent in the side without the main players to make a game of it but Spurs should have the experience to overcome them imo. But Like texonja its a no bet for me and one i'd rather watch.

From the BBC..

Tottenham midfielder Teemu Tainio misses the game at White Hart Lane because of a sprained ankle.

Skipper Ledley King (bruised foot) is also out but Jermaine Jenas (ankle), Mido (groin) and Paul Stalteri (hip) have returned to full training.

Arsenal will continue to play a team of fringe and young players.

Theo Walcott should start after being rested against Manchester United but leading marksman Robin van Persie is out because of a fractured foot.

Tottenham provisional squad: Robinson, Cerny, Alnwick, Chimbonda, Lee, Dawson, Gardner, Assou-Ekotto, Zokora, Davids, Lennon, Keane, Berbatov, Defoe, Murphy, Ghaly, Malbranque, Huddlestone, Ziegler.

Arsenal provisional squad: Almunia, Hoyte, Toure, Djourou, Connolly, Traore, Walcott, Diaby, Denilson, Julio Baptista, Aliadiere, Poom, Merida, Lansbury, Randall, Adebayor,

i fancy tottenham just to edge this one maybe 2-1 at 8/1, i fancy it to be tight andmaybe a set piece may result in the goal so jenas or dawson to score first.

Re: Fa & Carling Cup: 23/24th Jan

I fancy a few goals. the over 1.5 is 1.37 on betfair and i might go for a shit or bust 'easy win' Over 2.5 is a very handsome 2.12 imo, lets keep this going over 3.5 is 3.6. Nah i think i'll stop at over 2.5. Im gonna get on soon but i'll have a think. Anyone not see there being a few goals tonight? Nice open game of attacking football im foreseeing.

Re: Fa & Carling Cup: 23/24th Jan

Tottenham v Arsenal

Im going to be going in on Spurs tongiht with quite a hefty punt. Arsenal playing their second string team and whilst its done great to get here I just dont see them coming to White Hart Lane to win the game as its a 2 legged affair.

Plenty has been made of their last 6-3 win over Liverpool but people seem to be overlooking the fact Liverpool played a near second string outfit also so too much is being made of that result imo.

Spurs home form has been excellent this season and has been where the majority of their points tally has come from.

The thing i like from them just now is the standard of football they are playing at home with quick attacks coming from all areas of the pitch.

They had a blip against Newcastle at home but to be fair to them if Given hadnt played that game Newcastle wouldve been onto a big hiding.

Taino injured for Spurs and although he has featured often i dont see this as a big blow to the team as thye have more than enough ready made replacements.

I really do think the price is too inflated due to Arsenals last round performance. Spurs will be wanting to have a little lead going into the second leg and i expect them to have one.

Tottenham to win @ 2.50 Betfair (8/10)

Re: Fa & Carling Cup: 23/24th Jan

Could be a very cl;ose game but as Kiko has mentioned Spurs have a really good home record. Was gona leave it alone but i might be tempted with haveing a punt on HOME.

Going to check team news
