Re: Coca-Cola League Championship 02-03rd Feb

I feel like im in a sci-fi film. Episode One of the twilight zone about the last man on earth. It's like going to a swimming pool and being the only one in.

How's colchester's home form keeping up West Brom are coming into their best form are they not? Luton at Leicester? Nah maybe not. I like the look of the over 2.5 in the norwich v leeds game. Burnley at QPR? Derby too big a price poss?

Re: Coca-Cola League Championship 02-03rd Feb

well, Colchester should be concidered after a good game against Preston. Brum was shite and lost to Southend, now has lost Upson as well. Will stay away.

Wouldnt back Derby as well. They were far from impressive against Burnley.

Norwich tore Wolves apart in the 1st half only to look pathetic in the second.

Has Luton injury crisis eased a bit or not??? Actually I might be interested in Leicester. However too much news around them:

BBC:

Andrew Taylor has stood down as chairman of Leicester City.

Taylor, who has been a Foxes fan for more than 30 years, took over the role last April from Jim McCahill, who will stand in until a successor is found. Leicester insist Taylor's resignation will not affect Milan Mandaric's proposed takeover of the club.

---------------------

SKY

Leicester City have announced the capture of Geoff Horsfield on loan from Sheffield United, whilst Tottenham's Mark Yeates has also joined until the end of the season.

-----------------------

Horsfield might start banging goals, who knows

Could be interested in WBA away, massive price on Leeds, Derby don't get 3 points this weekend, I suppose. I'll write something later

Re: Coca-Cola League Championship 02-03rd Feb

Leeds removed from my shortlist after reading this

Quote:
Dennis Wise's injury problems continue to get worse with the news that both David Healy and Eddie Lewis will miss the Norwich game.
Northern Ireland striker Healy has had an X-ray on his arm which has revealed a break and he will now be out for at least two weeks.

He will also miss the international clash with Wales after picking up the injury in the last few minutes against Hull.

USA winger Lewis picked up an injury in the same game and he too is likely to miss out at Carrow Road. He will go for a scan on Thursday to find out the exact nature of the injury.

It is the latest in a long line of problems which sees Tore Andre Flo, Shaun Derry, Robbie Elliott, and Gary Kelly all sidelined.

Hi Guys, will be on Barnsley tonight +0.75@0.97. No doubt about it Cardiff is much stronger but they tend to slip up against some minor team and it is quite strange with the AH odds. With their position Cardiff should be able to give -1 instead of -0.75 ? So I will try Barnsley with small stake.

Cardiff have been useless recently haven' they? I can get Barnsley at the odds you posted, but it's not quite good enough so I'll go on the <2.5@1.833. They've gone under 2.5 in 7 of their last 8

Re: Coca-Cola League Championship 02-03rd Feb

Interesting news on possibly a new Barsnley strikeforce playing tonight-

Quote:
Cardiff v Barnsley
Midfielder Ricardo Scimeca will join defender Darren Purse on the sidelines when Cardiff host relegation-battlers Barnsley.

Scimeca will be out for up to six weeks with a hamstring strain after being replaced after just 35 minutes of last weekend's 3-2 home win against Leicester.

Joe Ledley is expected to move into the engine room from full-back with Kevin McNaughton being recalled to take over defensive duties on the left.

Loan signing Simon Walton could come into contention after joining the club on loan from Premiership Charlton on transfer deadline day.

Fellow new-boy Iwan Redan is expected to be named among the substitutes.

Barnsley manager Simon Davey is expected to name new strike duo Peter Rajczi and Istvan Ferenczi in his starting line-up.

Both Hungary internationals signed in time to make the squad - Rajczi on loan until the end of the season and Ferenczi on a permanent basis - but their debuts are subject to FA clearance.

Davey has no new injury or suspension worries to contend with following the midweek home win over QPR, but his selection dilemma hinges on the availability of his two deadline-day imports.

Striker Paul Hayes is not expected to be included in the squad after he turned down a move to Leyton Orient this week. Barnsley had accepted a six-figure sum from the Londoners.

Midfielder Colin Healy has also been released from his contract by mutual consent.

Re: Coca-Cola League Championship 02-03rd Feb

This is one of the hardest matches to predict this weekend, but I'm on Southampton. I don't care about statistic in this case. I backed Derby a few times, they are on great run, but they had too much luck lately. Strong squad, good singing, but they performances were not brilliant. Narrow lucky wins, thats all. They have another three new boys, and all three are expected to play at Saturday. It's crazy to make so much squad changes in so short time period.

This is a bet more against the leader,as for Southampton, but anyway I'll go for a home win. There are team news:

Quote:
New signing Marek Saganowski could replace Kenwyne Jones in Southampton's line-up to face leaders Derby at St Mary's.

Jones suffered a thigh strain after scoring both Saints' goals in Wednesday night's 2-1 win over Sheffield Wednesday and is rated as doubtful.

That could open the door for Poland striker Saganowski, who joined the club before the transfer deadline, to make his debut.

Darren Powell will definitely miss out after pulling a thigh muscle against Wednesday, but his departure after 57 minutes heralded the return of Inigo Idiakez from his thigh problem, so the Spaniard could press for a start.

Goalkeeper Kelvin Davis could also miss out after sustaining an injury to his leg in the build-up to the Owls' equaliser.

Rudi Skacel managed almost 90 minutes on his comeback from an Achilles problem so should be okay for his second match in a week.

Meanwhile fans will see a new-look Derby team in action.

New signings James McEveley, Tyrone Mears and Jon Macken this week took the Rams' tally of transfer-window signings to seven.

And the three new recruits are expected to be given debuts against the Saints.

Rams manager Billy Davies said: "All three players are in the squad but we will not be taking a massive squad down there - probably 20 players.

"Those players - especially the senior players - not named in the squad will be given the option whether they want to travel down or do an extra bit of training back in Derby.

"We will be rotating the squad, chopping and changing it between now and the end of the season."
By the way, Saganowski is a good striker (but don't take it serious, this is patriotic point of view

Re: Coca-Cola League Championship 02-03rd Feb

3.0 for Colchester, with their home form and Birmingham's recent stutter, is pretty good, surely?

Team news from Soccernet:

Quote:
Colchester are set to be largely unchanged when they welcome stuttering Birmingham to fortress Layer Road.

Boss Geraint Williams made no new signings before transfer deadline day and is likely to stick with the same XI which saw off Preston 1-0 on Tuesday.

Australian forward Richard Garcia remains doubtful after missing that game with a thigh strain - he is being closely monitored ahead of the Blues clash.

On-loan Manchester City defender Matthew Mills made his debut against North End but had to be withdrawn after just over an hour with a dead leg.

The 20-year old is, though, expected to recover in time to take his place.

Jamie Cureton showed no ill-effects on his return from a hamstring strain and is expected to continue his deadly strike partnership with Chris Iwelumo.

Birmingham manager Steve Bruce is sweating on the fitness of striker Nicklas Bendtner heading into the Layer Road clash.

Arsenal's Bendtner, who this week agreed a loan extension which will keep him with Blues until the end of the season, suffered an ankle knock on the training ground and missed the 3-1 midweek defeat to Southend.

But midfielder Stephen Clemence, who came off the bench against the Shrimpers, is pushing for a recall to the starting line-up after recovering from a calf injury.

Defender Stephen Kelly continues to be ruled out by a calf muscle problem of his own, though, while striker Mikael Forssell has yet to complete his rehabilitation following knee surgery

Re: Coca-Cola League Championship 02-03rd Feb

ooo I cant take on Brum although as you say RC the signals are all around us for the home win. Good luck with that mate.
Like the Southampton call bosman round about 6/5 for them at home is pretty good and I may just take Derby on as like you I dont see too many positives playing 3 debutants.

I may back WBA to kick on again today , the team is in place the manager is good . Teamnews is nothing speacial , Hull have lost 8 times at home this year so I think The Baggies will make it 9 here at over evens

WBA 2.37 (6/10)

Only 2 bets this weekend:

WBA 3 points
Southampton 2 points

I'm still thinking abouth backing Leicester and Sunderland, but odds are not great.

Re: Coca-Cola League Championship 02-03rd Feb

I like the Colchester bet, they are a team that perform very well at home compared to away and 3.0 for them is pretty damn good cosidering i think 2.5 is (are?) the fair odds. I have no account with Centerbet so I'll have to go on the Home :0 @2.16 which is fine.

QPR-Burnley <2.25@1.94 is value imo. Burnley have played 15 away this season, scored 12 and conceded 14 so it looks like they pack their defense. QPR average about 2.7 at home but recently (last 8 games) home and away, have only gone over 2.5 once.

Re: Coca-Cola League Championship 02-03rd Feb

Looks a good call on the unders there Mahatma , looks like this is the thread for all things Indian!
I'm half and half on Sunderland too bosman , very solid team against a team in freefall , I also circled leicester but they aint won in 4 games albeit against better than average CCC teams (Soton , Cardiff Colchester and Sunderland) , somer team news:

Quote:
Leicester have loan signings Luigi Glombard, Mark Yeates and Geoff Horsfield available for Luton's visit.
Australian midfielder Danny Tiatto is still nursing the hamstring problem that forced him off in the FA Cup loss to Fulham last month.

Striker Bjorn Runstrom could go straight into Luton's team after his loan move from Fulham.

Markus Heikkinen's possible return after a gashed leg will help ease Luton's long extensive list.
I hate Luton mind , 7 straight defeats and then they beat Preston , Leicester aint in good enougth form to carry my money but then I'm a bit tighter than most on here and it's cost me a bit in the last couple of weeks.
