Re: Coca-Cola League One 16th / 17th May

Brentford vs Sheff Weds ended in a 3-3 draw earlier this season.

The home side has a one goal deficit to make up and I fancy them to score tonight. Surely if you're sniffing for value the 5.00 available for Brentford to actually go all the way and get promoted is worth a look?

They beat Sheff Weds at Hillsborough earlier this season so they are capable of beating the Owls. If they manage to overcome the slender lead their opponents have then 5.00 will be massive.

Another value bet might be the 2.75 for Brentford to qualify for the final? They are 2.20 to win the game but you get another 0.55 if you think the win (by whatever means) will be good enough to see them through?

Team News

Brentford could be unchanged after boss Martin Allen declared himself satisfied with their first leg display.

But forward Isaiah Rankin is pushing for a starting place after being left on the bench at Hillsborough.

Sheffield Wednesday could welcome back Steve Adams (hernia) in place of Craig Rocastle (knee) in midfield.

The Owls may choose between Lee Peacock and Drew Talbot up front, although Lee Bullen (knee) and Richard Wood (blisters) are set to continue.

Small wager on Brentford to get promoted at 5.00
Small wager on Brentford to reach the final at 2.75

Although Play-off games tend to be rather low scoring due to the nature of what Play-off are, I have strong feeling there will be a few goals in this game. As said earlier, the last game between these clubs at Brentford ended up 3-3. Sheffield Wednesday have one of the best away records in the Division and Brentford will need to come forward. Not sure what the best price is for over 2.5 goals, but that may well be the bet I go for tonight

Tonights bet - Over 2.5 goals

No problem Traeth as that's the point of the forum existing - to exchange information about fixed odds betting.

I hope it wins for us now.

One thing Traeth - remember that Brentford could still win in 90 minutes and not go through. The score could be 1-0 and then they could lose on penalties). You might still prefer the 2.20 on the straight win?

Re: Coca-Cola League One 16th / 17th May

Brentfords home games in league and cup recently and in the past against Sheff Wed have produced goals,3-3 and 0-3 in the league cup 1-2 and 2-2,So I agree with Trickrick over goals looks to be the call.
Spread betters might want to buy shirt numbers at 36,the two forwards who started in the first leg for the bees was Burton and Pratley whos shirt numbers are 18 and 29 respectivley although either could be replaced by Issa Rankin shirt number 9,defender Sodje has scored 7 goals this season and wears shirt number 17.
Sheff Weds played Quinn and Peacock upfront they had shirt numbers 22 and 10 although Maclean might replace either shirt 9.
Shirt Numbers at 35 looks a gift
The index has Sodje's (defender) goal minutes you as low as 9,not bad for someone who has 7 goals.

I've taken the goaline with Ladbrokes:-

+2.0/+2.5 goals at evens (6 pt stake)

(The split line gives me a bit of insurance if there's only 2 goals)

Re: Coca-Cola League One 16th / 17th May

Unlucky Gettin - Now for my attempt to begin.

I can see the the game tonight going the same way as last night - goalscoring wise. The onus is on Tranmere to attack from the off leaving Hartlepool to pick off the pieces and they have the players to do that and Boyd is certainly a striker not short on confidence so i may have a dabble on him as anytime goalscorer. Hartlepool beating Tranmere was the first time they have this season with Tranmere winning home and away.

Team news so far is that both teams will be unchanged with Tranmere possibly including Dadi for a more attacking formation so the team news looks to back up my points.

So my proper bet will be 5pts over 2.5 goals

And then little dabbles on Boyd anytime scorer around 6/4 id imagine and Hartlepool win at 13/5. 1 pt on each!

Re: Coca-Cola League One 16th / 17th May

Tranmere at home have been a formidable side and Hartlepool have been poorer on the road - I can't stop thinking home win.

I have a softish spot for the Monkey Hangers - it must have something to do with Jeff Sterling supporting them as Gillette Soccer is the best prog on the tele.

But HOME win for me.

3-1 maybe.

Re: Coca-Cola League One 16th / 17th May

I have to go with most of you on this simply because Tranmere have such a decent home record.

However 1.72 on the win in 90 mins does not tempt me to have a bet.

The odds for Tranmere to qualify for the final at 3.50 with Bet365 is a lot more tempting for me.
