Re: Scottish 1-2-3 Leagues - 13th Aug

I quite fancy Peterhead to take it at 2.75 with Bet Direct.

I wouldn't be fooled by last weeks 4-1 defeat to Alloa. It was a very harsh scoreline and didn't tell the whole story of a match where at time Peterhead were the more dominant.

On another day Peterhead wouldve rattled in a cricket score having 18 attempts at goal with 14 on target. It was one of those days for the strikers when nothing seemed to go right for them. Alloa were far more clinical scoring 4 goals from only 7 attempts.

Their defence didn't help either though giving away very sloppy goals but they seemed to have put in a better performance last night. Confidence should be high again with the players wanting to put things right and show they aren't the whipping boys like everyone thinks they will be.

Reckon it will be close but will take Peterhead to shade it.

Re: Scottish 1-2-3 Leagues - 13th Aug

You all really hate Partick don't you? Looks a toughy to me Kiko. I reckon it's only a matter of time before Partick start putting their chances away (they had a hell of a lot of efforts at Brechin's goal last night I believe).

The Peterhead fans were all moaning about their team's poor defensive display against Alloa and mentioned a lack of pace (throughout the team I think), lack of steel in midfield etc. they didn't sound too positive to me - yes they created chances but it's going to be rather hard if you can't keep the other side out. I'm going to wait and see with them, just to be safe. The report from last night's Stenny match will certainly help as I was surprised Peterhead kept a clean sheet.

Actually, I suppose the 2.75 aint bad for Peterhead on paper. Maybe you and Komp are right.

Re: Scottish 1-2-3 Leagues - 13th Aug

Report i read earlier Mickey said Peterhead in the end deserved their place in the next round. Haven't had a chance to look around properly.

I think its the price more than anything Mickey. If they are say around the evens mark or so i wouldn't touch them. I did say after last weeks drubbing the bookies would be pricing them up nicely which i would be taking as i don't rate them as a bad a side as everything thinks they are. Reckon they will end up around mid table and should have a good home record to keep them safe.

You could be right, Kiko - when I think about it, 2.75 for the home seems maybe a tad generous. Crikey, they might shade it I guess if Partick keep missing their chances. Good luck anyway.

Re: Scottish 1-2-3 Leagues - 13th Aug

i'll need to read up mick but Partick cost me about 10 bets on saturday with a totally inept performance v Stirling albion. I will read up though. Others from memory on my half time coupon which done me quite proud last week was

Ross 19/10
Gretna 5/4

and others i forget. Will get into this later though. I have to

Yes, they were quite inept for the most part Komp but from what I read the introduction of the Finnish fella seemed to make a difference and they finished quite strongly. Some of the fans were less negative than others regarding that game but fair enough it wasn't good enough. They do seem to have improved a fair bit though going by last night's performance at Brechin and I reckon they may have a bit to offer in the coming weeks.

Re: Scottish 1-2-3 Leagues - 13th Aug

Agreed mick but i couldnt even look at them to go to a determined petehead side at the mo. I can see it being a draw poss if Partick are on the ball a bit but still fancy Peterhead to take the lead especially at 5/2 just to be winning. They had a better trapping record than even Gretna last season and i think they were winning 9/10 games at half time before the last 4 week slump.

Looking at latest prices i cant get my head about the Berwick East Stirling game. 2/5 Berwick at Stan James (free £25 bet) Need to go read East Stirling's reports from ZEBRA DIARY but that 2/5 looks pretty big against the 2/9 elsewhere.

Wow Ukbetting (free £25 bet) have Gretna at Evens. Raith were ok the other night micks saying but surely Bingham and co will have too much for them? Fcu ki wanna just back that the now aye i reckon the Gretna forward line could get 3 at least on Saturday. Might be the last time you'll get even money or better on Gretna barr in the Morton games.

Dunee is about the only other one im interested at the mo. Could be interested in St Johnstone to beat another fav of mine this season Hamilton. Nah too dodgy. I want a return with no arsing about.

Re: Scottish 1-2-3 Leagues - 13th Aug

I aint so sure Raith were that good last night Mick from reading the record. Need a few more reports on it though

Quote:

Raith 2 Airdrie 0

RAITH'S Second coming last night airbrushed Airdrie out of the CIS Cup picture.

Eddie Annand and Neil Jablonski grabbed the goals that sent the Second Division side into the second round - and Airdrie scurrying back to the drawing board.

Raith boss Gordon Dalziel said: 'The players have all done well tonight but this is just the start.'

Airdrie boss Sandy Stewart didn't feel like speaking afterwards and no wonder.

His men got a wake-up call in six minutes when slack marking allowed Annand time to find the space to send a dipping shot under the crossbar for the opener.

The First Division outfit hit back four minutes later but Paul Lovering's free-kick crashed off the post. Then in18 minutes the hosts' defence were almost caught off guard again when a poor clearance gave Paul McManus a chance but his finish was poor.

Airdrie pushed hard for the leveller but were almost got caught with a sucker punch in 35 minutes when an Annand effort went just wide.

But the Rovers faithful were smiling again in 57 minutes when a Mark Crilly cross was met with a fierce volley from Neil Jablonski at the far post for No.2.

And if Airdrie needed any confirmation it wasn't going to be their night, it arrived 10 minutes later when Stephen McDougal blew a golden opportunity to get back into the game
I like the way the defence was making mistakes. I thinkGretna could be a corker on Saturday.

just reading that Cowdenbeath are expected to announce Mixu Paatelainen as their new boss today.

I did also say Komp that Airdrie had their chances. Gretna @ evs would be very hard to resist.

Re: Scottish 1-2-3 Leagues - 13th Aug

I think so Mick. Infact i think im on them already. Gotta go uptown to pay my internet bills so im gonna havea look at laddies and such see what price i can get.

The Mixu factor at Cowdenbeath is interesting me. He's gonna be playing as well as managing. I know he's been out a while but could be back playing hopefully this weekend. Talk is that he's a perfect front man to go with wee Gribben. He should be knocking it down for Gribben to get on the end of. Also in a managerial role he was St Mirren reserve and youth coach last season. Both teams finished 2nd in their respective leagues and he's a motivator. I can see him having 'Betah motivated for Saturday.

I have to llok into Beaths home form as i have been wary of them at home since reading that their pitch is so tight that it used to not suit thier type of play. If they have Mixu and gribben down the nmiddle and bang balls up to them all day then it could be a dif story.

Cowdenbeath have beaten QP the last 3 times abeit some tight games. QP are definetly weakend from last season and the talk was this was gonna be Beath's year. Getting Mixu in as a new manager might just aid them with this and starting on Saturday.

Re: Scottish 1-2-3 Leagues - 13th Aug

Sorry Odoon got a load on and luckily its a quiet week in the Scot's 1-2-3. Been thinking about your albion at Ht and think its well worth a pop and i might join you in it. Montrose aint scored many this season (need to check) and 9/2 seems a fair price. Aye could be ht coupon madness in the Komp househhold this week.

Gonna start with the BBC for team news. I know it aint the best but its a start.

Re: Scottish 1-2-3 Leagues - 13th Aug

Only one from Scots lower leagues I'm considering this week is Dundee, but even then I'm not sure. Berwick are 2/5 against East Stirling, but can't help getting the feeling that East Stirling are a bit of a tougher nut to crack these days.

Dundee or nothing for me, will decide later
