Don't think so Milners as this was hardly a surprising defeat. Reading the reports on the 3-0 defeat at Ibrox, the scoreline flattered Rangers and Killie made a game of it. From what you say Dunfermline are a poor side. They struggle to score goals, though did manage 2 at Rugby Park in a recent league match. Killie look good to me.
Overall this is not a bad looking card. Aberdeen should have far too much for Stranraer and I fancy Hearts for another win at Livvy.
There are bound to be a couple of draws at 90mins and ICT v Dundee Utd looks the most likely to me.
Wouldn't touch St Mirren v Motherwell.

I think they'll be taking it seriously all right zonker. I'm more confident re Aberdeen. Stranraer won promotion last season are finding it hard going in Division 1.
Hibs have had a couple of tough games against Dnipro and Celtic and might be more likely to rest some players. Ayr are ok in Division 2 but the gulf in class is very big here and Hibs should be able to freshen up the team and still win.
I reckon Hearts, Killie and Aberdeen are the best bets.

What I mean is that Killie has got a lot of good results recently and i wonder if thats them going to get a few dodgy results from now. Got to say I wouldn't touch Dunfermline unless i pick them as a outsider bet but they did disappoint me at Dunfermline but Killie didn't impress me much at Pittodrie with them basically smash and grab with Aberdeen dominating the match. Touch call really.

Any early team news or manager comments yet? I've not spotted any so far

Aberdeen have travelled tonight to Stranraer so they are taking this game serious thats for sure. We want to get to a cup final and make money. Don't have a squad big enough to play reserves maybe play a few on the bench that won't get a game but i doubt it.

Re: Scottish League Cup Tue/Wed
Did someone mention Aberdeen being 4/9 at Paddy Power? Thats a hell of a price. I do still think your boys will win this at a canter Milners and by 3 or 4 goals. Over 2.5 at Pinnacle could appeal but the prob is ai cant see Stranraer scoring. Nah maybe they will. Aye i like that too. I'd have every bet for Aberdeen beating stranraer. If i could Got them none the less on my line and i aint expecting bother

Careful with the overs, Lovell is out for Aberdeen although should be back for Livingston. That means it will be Crawford and Smith upfront i think unless Calderwood decides to go with Stewart. Jamie Smith has been a fantastic signing for us - been man of the match in about 3 games this season, I'm sure many dandys will remember his goal against Rangers but his effort and technical skills has been fantastic and i think it won't be long before he is back in the Scotland squad.

Re: Scottish League Cup Tue/Wed
Well decided to pick the usual 5,3,3,1 system as I normally do. All European handicap till the 1pt bet.
5pts - CELTIC handicap -1 vs Falkirk (bet365 1.53)
Celtic should score a couple of goals here although i expect Falkirk to be a bit tighter than they was against Motherwell but Celtic should have enough quality.
3pts - Stranraer vs ABERDEEN -1 (Bet365 2.2)
My team Aberdeen, don't like betting on them that much but can't ignore this as if Aberdeen are winning then i expect us to create a lot of chances with the decent midfielders we have in the team as long as we keep it tight at the back.
3pts - Ayr vs HIBS -1 (Bet365 2.3)
Lets hope hibs put out a decent team and not full of reserves but decided to back it as even with their Reserves they should win although maybe 2 is difficult to do but like Aberdeen can they actually field a 2nd string team I doubt it. Like Aberdeen good price
1pt - Killie vs DUNFERMLINE (Pinnacle 6.0)
Don't fancy this one much, but they play in the same division and I think Killie are overachieving and its possible that Dunfermline will get a result although they have to improve alot compared to the performance against Aberdeen by 5/1 is good value.

Re: Scottish League Cup Tue/Wed
As Para says, this cup usually proves the gap in class between SPL sides and teams from leagues like Div 2 and the lower reaches of Div 1. Both Aberdeen and Hibs should prevail and as Milners points out, Dons have travelled today to avoid a long journey tomorrow.
Aberdeen racked up a good win at Dunfermline on while Hibs had their chances in the 2nd half v Celtic.
I am going to break the habit of (almost) a lifetime and go for a wee speculative double on Aberdeen and Hibs. The Paddy Power price of 1.44 Aberdeen points me towards them so it will be with them as they match other best prices going on Hibs.
1pt on Aberdeen/Hibs at 2.02 with Paddy Power.

Re: Scottish League Cup Tue/Wed
I promoted Aberdeen and Hibs double earlier in this thread although I will probbaly take it with some change I have when out tomorrow Id be more inclined to just go for the Aberdeen win -1 on the Bet365 handicap. Good chance here to get a few goals and Stranraer's performances in the league have not been that impressive at all.

Re: Scottish League Cup Tue/Wed
I am tempted for a biggie on this -1 for Aberdeen. I mean we will win no question about that. Do I want 40% return on my investment for 1hr 1/2 work or do I want 110%. I wont make the game due to working and wouldnt make it in time but would expect a 2-0 or 3-0. I mean who they got? Monkey bo Leigh Hinds to cause problems?

Re: Scottish League Cup Tue/Wed
IT have a got a mini injury crisis for tomorrows game.Tokely,Golabek,McBain and Dargo are all out.We may have a problem on the left side of defence as Golabeks understudy Hastings is also struggling.Withouth those 2 our left sided options are limited.
Heres my expected line-up:
----------------------Brown--------------------
----Proctor-----Dods-----Munro-----Hastings/?--
----Wilson-----Black-------Hart-----Morgan-----
---------------Wyness----Brewster-------------
Theres an outside chance that Juanjo may be on the bench aswell.
Oh and we've never beaten Dundee Utd in league or cup.
Get you dough on Utd chaps.

Re: Scottish League Cup Tue/Wed
I was reading about those injuries this morning Brew and reckon Utd will still have it tough, BUT, I am tempted to take the odds on offer. They blow hot and cold; more often cold to be honest but as is always being said, they have players in their team that are capable of doing the business. A nice win at the weekend over Livi should boost them and Fernandez really seems to be in top form. Hopefully they've been working round the clock at tightening up at the back. If so then they are certainly capable of nicking it. Here's some bits n bobs from their Livi report:
Quote:
|
Gordon Chisholm handed a recall to David McCracken in the hope to tighten up the United defence
|
Quote:
|
In a first half dominated by the home side, David Fernandez was a constant threat to his former employers
|
Quote:
|
In the second period it was United who always looked the more lively
|
Quote:
|
A much needed home win for United in a game inspired by the hugely impressive David Fernandez. Gordon Chisholm must be happy with the performance and the number of chances made by his side.
|
Not sure how much difference McCracken made to the Utd defence but I mentioned it as... ehhm.... he may have. As I said, if they can put in a decent effort at the back then it could their night. Tight, tricky and tough but 3.15 @ Betfair or if you prefer, 3.25 @ Canbet aint bad at all.
Quote:
Inverness CT v Dundee United
Inverness player-manager Craig Brewster has four more players added to his injury list for their CIS Insurance Cup tie against Dundee United.
Defenders Ross Tokely, Stuart Golabek and Roy McBain, plus striker Craig Dargo, were all injured during Saturday's defeat by Hearts.
Captain Derek McInnes is back in the Dundee United squad after recovering from a knee injury.
But defender Lee Mair and winger Barry Robson are likely to miss out.

Re: Scottish League Cup Tue/Wed
Good info and thoughts all
Let's see:
ICT v United...I like the United bet at over 3.00 - and agree with Mickey that its still be a tight 'un. United did look good v Livi - although Kiko's Cowboys would probably look good v Livi at the moment. But nevertheless, Fernandez is proving to be one of the buys of the season - and offers something that all the other SPL sides(barring Hearts, Rangers and Celtic) don't have. I reckon they will progress with a narrow win, but whether thats in normal time or extra time is anyone's guess - perhaps some small stakes on the away with a draw cover here.
Not a fan of those Killie v Dunfermline odds - Killie just look a trifle short to me. Hmmmmmmmmmmm...
1.93 on Clyde +2.75 That handicap looks far too generous to me...or does it? Taking the game on its merits it looks a not bad bet, but then again the Old Firm have a tendency to dish out a hammering or two in the early rounds, even if they make significant changes to their teams.

Betfair go odds on for Motherwell...which I think I'll be laying . Motherwell had a really tough time vs Hamilton in the last round...and Saturday was just one of those days where everything they hit seemed to find the corner of the net. They'll be missing big Jim Hamilton tonight, to add to all their other injuries, which is a fairly big blow. And in St Mirren they face a team who I think is unbeaten at Love Street since December(but that might not be correct.) Anyway, they are playing superbly just now and were all over Clyde on Saturday, and Charlie Adam looks to be a fanstactic signing with his driving runs from midfield.
Agree with the Aberdeen thoughts on this thread, but I'll give it a miss I think, but good luck all who are on. .GIF)
