Any value in Southend @ 2.2 folks? Top of the form table and looking rather good with plenty of goals. Anyone?

I know. I'll tell you. Brb.

I prefer Southend away myself Mick but they got to be worth a look againt a team like Forest that there could be no depth to how bad they can become. I dunno.

I mgonna have a look at Swansea, Brentford, Walsall and Prt Vale.

Re: CC League One - Friday 7th to Monday 10th Oct

Helllloooooo....its me, underated & ignored back again

Its the 'thinking aloud' time of the week again, with only limited research so far, but here goes:

BOURNEMOUTH/DONCASTER is a leave alone I think, team news depending I could get tempted by Donny I think but theres better bets around

TRANMERE/SCUNTHORPE is a strange one, a couple of weeks ago I'd have gone Scunny here but theyve gone off the boil big time & although Tranmere are struggling they are unbeaten @ home, so a swerve I think

ROTHERHAM/BARNSLEY is very hard to call IMO. Rotherham havent won since beating Gillingham 3-0 5 games ago, & Barnsley lost 3 on the bounce & didnt score in 4 before slamming Oldham 4-0 last week !! Very dangerous....

SWINDON/PORT VALE. Now Port Vale away have been poor for a couple of years & their away record of 1-1-3-4-8 boasts 3 points @ Southend on the opening day but only a point @ MK Dons since then. Their home form is outstanding but I'd be tempted to lay them away, if it were not for the fact that Swindon have lost loads on the trot now...is it 7 ?? Nathan Lowndes is ket for Vale having scored 5 so far, whereas Vales joint leading scorers last season only scored 10 apiece, & Vales 49 goals were third worst in the division. This is a real 'sleep on it' type bet & needs team news before plunging but I dont think I'm brave enough to back Swindon but laying PV could interest me.

WALSALL/MK DONS. I've made a bit of money on Walsall lately having got their results correct in the 4 games coming into last weekend, where I backed a draw & Walsall lost 3-2. That was the third time in 5 games that the Saddlers took the lead & lost, & just goes to prove what a strange team they are. Their home record is very inconsistent @ 2-2-2-10-12 but that does include a 5-2 thumping by Swansea. Merson is now missing for up to 3 months but Pead should return to right back after suspension, & he has been impressive this season. The key is Simon Osbourne, who runs the show, & the recruitment of Husbands up front alongside Matty Fryatt promises great things with pace, so that goals never seem far away. The dons have won 2 on the bounce however, & will travel with no little confidence to Bescot. Granted both wins were @ home but previously they were unlucky it seems @ Blackpool to lose 3-2, & they held Barnsley 0-0, again @ home, prior to that they lost to Swansea & Brentford which is hardly a crime. Teams news needs to be looked @ but Walsall have conceded 9 in the last 5 games (& 1 was a 0-0!!) & they seem to be creaking @ the back. I thought Staunton would sort that out but he hasnt & quite often doesnt make it anyway. I'm seriously tempted with MK Dons here

YEOVIL/SWANSEA. Both teams in form with Swanseas away record of 4-1-1-14-9 looking well impressive, but Yeovil are rising up the table after a poor start & have won 4 of their last 6 games, including both @ home. They seem unaffected by the loss of Gary Johnson & I think they can stun Swansea here & I certainly wouldnt be backing Swansea @ as short as 2.3

BLACKPOOL/COLCHESTER is another one difficult to call IMO. Both have had their half decent runs but not carried them on & theyre much of a much ness. If forced I think I'd side with the home but looks like a draw to me

OLDHAM/BRENTFORD, well, until last week I'd have said that Oldham had a chance @ home here. At that time they were unbeaten in 3 after losing in succession to Southend & Huddersfield......& then they got thumped 4-0 by Barnsley who'd lost 3 on the bounce & not scored in 4 !! I've read the reports & I'm still not sure I understand it.....I guess Brentford @ 6/4 will appeal to some but not for me I'm afraid

SOUTHEND/NOTTS FOREST is very hard to predict. Its well documented in the national press that Megson was close to the sack 5 games ago but Forest are unbeaten since then, although 4 of those games were at home. The feeling is that the bookies are still pricing on reputation here & odds against on Southend do look as though they need to be snapped up. I must admit I did expect 3/1 on Forest & to find only 2's is welcome. The only thing that puts me off is Southends 7 game winning streak must end at some point but I cant see Forest winning here. Freddie Eastwood returned last week & immediately launched a stirring comeback to overturn a spirited Yeovil side, & Goater & Gray are also decent @ this level. Southend certainly look value here

Re: CC League One - Friday 7th to Monday 10th Oct

All aboard the MK Dons Express..!

MK Dons are on a mini roll..(ok 2 wins on the spin..) Out of all the teams in CC1, the Dons are the team I have the greatest interest in..During many of their matches this season, they have either lead or held their own, only to throw away the match in the second half. They've now hit some form, and Danny's boys must be confident..Wallsall on the other hand are a rather average performing side winning as many as they have drawn or lost..Ok Mk haven't won away all season but they have come close and I think that they could well have the taking of Wallsall..

MK Dons - 7/2 (with 12/5 saver on the draw) - Totesport

Could be rick, could be. I recall reading some MK Dons reports not long ago and I quite liked the sound of them and I've been watching out for their results since. I fancy a wee look at that one myself.

Re: CC League One - Friday 7th to Monday 10th Oct

No doubt that Southend are doing well and that Forests reputation counts for nothing at this level but......

Forest are unbeaten in 5 games including an away trip to Swansea where we were unlucky not to get all 3 points. In fact Megson admitted in the local press that his late substitution cost Forest the game as he tried to defend their one goal lead with a defensive swap.

Forest also beat the other top side in this division at home on the opening day (Huddersfield) so we seem to do better against the better sides so far.

I'm certainly not saying that Forest will go and win this game but we are an improving side and I think that the bookies have this game priced about right with any of the three results a distinct possibility.

Bournemouth v Doncaster
Bournemouth boss Sean O'Driscoll will choose from an unchanged squad for the visit of Doncaster.

The Cherries still have a long list of injuries but Steve Fletcher, Stephen Purches, James Rowe and Jason Tindall are closest to returning to training.
Doncaster will be without Steve Roberts, Andy Warrington, Tonny Nielsen, Sean Thornton, Jermaine McSporran and Tim Ryan.

Ricky Ravenhill is suspended but Jonathan Forte is back after a ban.

Re: CC League One - Friday 7th to Monday 10th Oct

A very tight set of fixtures and I cant find a bet of any sort in this league so im afraid I wont be able to contribute.

I liked Scunny away at Tranmere but both sides arent doing well and after 4 defeats in a row and a few injury problems theres no reason for me to be on Scunthopre.

I like backing against Port Vale but Swindon have lost 7 games in a row :loon

Bradford arn't away so no bet for me as I cant see any decent prices anywhere

WALSALL v MK DONS

Walsall player-manager Paul Merson's groin injury rules him out, while goalkeeper Andy Oakes is also out with hand ligament damage.
Darren Wrack has a broken shin and Ian Roper is short of match fitness, but Steve Staunton is fit once again.

MK Dons' Wade Small has picked up an ankle injury and will be out for at least another week.

Trent McLenahan (hamstring) and Ben Chorley (thigh) are progressing well, but neither is ready for Saturday.

YEOVIL v SWANSEA

Yeovil are boosted by the return of Kevin Gall, but they are without winger Arron Davies, away on Under-21 duty.
Matt Harrold will be pushing for a starting place following his two goals after coming on as substitute in the 4-3 victory at Scunthorpe.

Swansea will be without suspended striker Adebayo Akinfenwa, so Adrian Forbes is in pole position to partner Lee Trundle up front.

Sam Ricketts, Mark Pritchard and Owain Tudur-Jones are on Wales U-21 duty.

About to metion the absence of Akinfenwa though they still have a decent striker in Trundle, Both teams seem to have found the net again and hopefully Swansea's usual over 2.5 goal machine will get back on the rails against yeovil who have let in 7 and scored 5 in their last 2 outings.
