Dare I say after Saturday's debacle that Nuneaton look good @ 6/5 (Stan James) at Chelmsford.

Here's the first game scores for the FA Cup replay games:

11 Oct-19:30 AFC Totton v Bishops Cleeve 1-1
11 Oct-19:45 Braintree Town v Heybridge 1-1
11 Oct-19:45 Cammell Laird v Hucknall Town 2-2
11 Oct-19:45 Chasetown v Cogenhoe 1-1
11 Oct-19:45 Dorchester v Yeading 1-1
11 Oct-19:45 Eastbourne Borough v Metropolitan Police 3-3
11 Oct-19:45 Gainsborough v Leigh RMI 1-1
11 Oct-19:45 Kettering v St Albans 0-0
11 Oct-19:45 Mangotsfield v Bromley 0-0
11 Oct-20:00 Aylesbury Utd v Wroxham 1-1
12 Oct-19:45 Chelmsford v Nuneaton 1-1

Based on the comments on the Nuneaton Boro forum, I'd be wary of 6/5 on them to be honest... And not wanting to lose any more cash Renown for a mid-season slump are the Boro - maybe it's starting early?

Slight side-step - anyone know which day the NLP is published in the UK? Couldn't find any around work last week - even on Tuesday/Wednesday

Hi Guys,

Bloody Nuneaton eh? I had a quick look earlier and it seems the three books offering prices haven't made their mind up. I must say after reading their forum I'll be stayinbg away from that one...

I've been having a bit of a 'mare myself over the last month with one team seriously hurting my profits every weekend. However, mid-weeks seem to be better for me at the momene so I'm going to see if there's any bets to be had.

Re: Midweek Non-League & FA Qualifiers 10/11/12th Oct

Welcomei Acapoulco and GL with your bet

One bet for me this mid-week and it's:

Briantree to beat Heybridge Swifts @ Evens

This has been backed in from 11/10 already. The game on Saturday ended 1-1 but apparently Braintree were the better team and missed a penalty. Braintree are unbeaten at home this season and going quite well in the Ryman league - having already beaten the Swifts 3-0 away in the league.

Here's some views of the game on Saturday:

Braintree's

Both of the goals were scored in the first half when the sides were more even with Braintree still having the edge The game was not played at the fast & furious pace that had mark the previous game. The inconsistent referee who made a mixture of excellent & poor decisions gave an early free kick to the Swifts on the edge of the Braintree area but were unable to pose a threat. The excellent defender Ollie Adedeji got an unusual yellow card after 15minutes after a mistimed tackle. Braintree though that had got the breakthrough on 22 minutes when good work by Alex Revell down the right crossed a ball to Louis Riddle coming in from the left only for a clumsy defender to barge Riddle over in the area for a penalty. Griffiths stepped up to take the spot kick but the home keeper guessed the direction of the placed shot to keep the score even. On 25 minutes a spectacular overhead kick by Alex Revell that could have been a contender for goal of the season skimmed just over the bar. A couple of minutes later Heybridge took the lead when the Iron defence let Danny Barber in of the left hand side of a crowded area to slot the ball low between the keeper & the post. Another notable chance for the Iron was Louis Riddle’s long range blockbuster of a shot that was palmed out for a corner. Braintree got their deserved equaliser on 37 minutes when a determined Andy Porter brought the ball through a challenge to loop a pass through to a Griffiths run who staved off two challenging defenders to tuck a low shot past keeper Nicholls.

The second half saw Braintree dominate the game with much of the time camped in the Heybridge half. Heybridge’ forays were limited to the occasional long ball lumped forward to the front two who were kept in check by the excellent back four of Joseph, Adedeji, Lorraine & Jones. In fact Jones who’s passes always seemed to go astray in the first period seemed to get everything right in the second half to cap a fine display. On 60 minutes the tireless Revell had an absolute cannon ball of a shot that bounced back off the keepers body to keep the home side in the game. Another fine change came from a Mark Jones corner when Paul Lorraine headed his shot just wide of the post. On 66 minutes the hard working Billy Burgess got a yellow card, reason not known. On 78 minutes Jones & Riddle combined well down the left for Riddles strong cross to Eugene Ofori, who’s header was put out for a corner. The resulting corner saw a shot from Ofori strike the woodwork. Yet again Revell blasted another fine shot over the bar with minutes to go.
Result 1-1

Heybridge rode their luck today as Braintree just could not find the net after a number of close calls.
Braintree attacked from all angles with Riddle & Joseph providing the width & diminutive Joseph always keen to get forward and play the one twos when the time was right. Ofori, Burgess & Porter were mostly in control of the centre of the park. Up front Griffiths was always keen to lay off little passes & also did his fair share of running to support the magnificent Revell.

My men of the match – Revell & Joseph

Heybridge:

Heybridge had the better of the early exchanges but Braintree certainly finished the stronger and looked the more likely winners in the second half, but neither side could fine the elusive touch to take the tie, and they will replay on Tuesday night.
Danny Barber’s free kick from 16 yards was well blocked by the Braintree wall, from the corner Nick Morgan in the Braintree goal spilled the ball but Swifts were unable to take advantage. As ever Ian Cousins was dominant in defence and Swifts looked comfortable on the ball. However it was the visitors who were the more decisive and an error by Robin Trott allowed Alex Revell to cross and Erdem Artun brought down Eugene Ofori in the penalty area but the spot kick by Carl Griffiths was well saved by Paul Nicholls. Revell then shot just high on the turn, but Swifts responded well, and after 29 minutes Kris Lee worked hard to win the ball and from an acute angle fire past Morgan for the opening strike.

Confusion between Paul O’Donoghue and Paul Nicholls on 38 minutes allowed Carl Griffiths to notch a poachers goal on 38 minutes, scoring into an empty net. With Revell a constant threat and Andy Porter working hard in midfield Braintree looked the more likely to score a second. Nicholls saved well from Ofori and then the same player hit the bar, twisting well to turn and shoot after a corner had been half cleared. Swifts rarely threatened the Braintree goal in the second half, gifting possession too easily and Nicholls twice had to save well from Revell, standing up strong.

Local paper:

from the thisisessex site:

Soccer: Heybridge Swifts 1-1 Braintree Town (FA Cup third qualifying round)
The last time Braintree came to Scraley Road, in a Ryman League match last month, the general view of both sides was that they were distinctly flattered by their 3-0 win.

Had they won this FA Cup tie by three goals, there could have been fewer complaints.

After an even first half in which neither side shone, Iron moved up two gears in the second half and had at least five decent efforts to win the game.

But they failed to convert any of them and must welcome Swifts back to Cressing Road for a replay tomorrow night.

Re: Midweek Non-League & FA Qualifiers 10/11/12th Oct

Nice going yet again AMP

After the little "accident" with Frickley last Friday I went scouting round for information as Stan James had them priced up the highest last night at 2.38 (I think). I think the Lincoln incident was down to a lot of injuries and suspensions based on what I found on the forum. They also won again last night 4-2 away at Ossett at an OK price. Worth watching out for once again perhaps...?

St. Albans had a bit of problem at Kettering based on reading the Kettering and St. Albans forums. St. Albans reduced to 8 men :loon
All 3 centre backs sent off - Adu, Castle and the new bloke! (apparently Cousins)
Also Lee Clarke got stretchered off. Not much info on him yet but the fans are not happy about that so sounds like he's important to them. May be worth noting for the weekend or whenever these suspensions kick in given their recent league form (good) and thus the price their opponents might be. Not checked the fixtures yet on that one. Just hoovering up news and snippets

I'm still avoiding Nuneaton tonight but plan to get reading about some weekend fixtures. At least the Conference North has fixtures Saturday and Monday.

Anyone found a decent site with all replay results listed? BBC links to the FA which is not yet updated. Those results I've found have been via forums and I really should be doing some real work

Cheers Krider,

Apparently the normally realiable tony kempster site is not updated as the man himself is away on holiday at the moment.

I'll be looking into the Conf North and south with interest tonight.

The non-league event of the week is the release by bet365 of the FA Trophy matches. I've got about 10 games on my shortlist so I imagine I'll be well commited into those games.

Re: Midweek Non-League & FA Qualifiers 10/11/12th Oct

just had as much of a single as my bottle would stand - 15 points - on Frickley away to Warrington (mid-table in the league below) at a massive 2.0...

Had about 30 pts of bets to post up when I start the thread in the next five mins or so...

Keep it here....
