Re: Welsh Premier League Oct 14/15/16

Initial impressions- will do more research over next few days , any questions do not hesitate to ask.

Friday night matches

Aberystwyth v Welshpool Town
Aber have not had a good start to their season ,one surprise win away against 2nd placed Newtown .Welshpool have had a good start, are now 3rd their only defeat was away to Carmarthen. Prices look correct to me.
Airbus UK v T.N.S.
Airbus have surprised me with their decent start , their defeats have been to high fliers Rhyl and Newtown .I believe they will lose to the top team in the league TNS ,who have won 5 league games on the trot plus some good cup wins. Again odds about right , may go with TNS [they have a large squad] after news on Airbus team news.

Connah's Quay v Bangor City
two poor sides 18 ,last and 16 in the league C.Q got their first point last Saturday, Bangor were a lot better last season and have had 2 away wins ,rumours of players leaving the club though.Could be a draw ?

Re: Welsh Premier League Oct 14/15/16

Saturday's matches

Carmarthen v Caersws
"a home win" , needs more consideration following that Caersws performance in the Cup last night , Carmarthen had a good away win last week , their losses have been to top two clubs. Reports from fans that saw Caersws draw 3-3 at Porthmadog were not impressed by Caersws defence , a bit disorganised at the back .
Cwmbran v Port Talbot
Can Port Talbot make it 7 out of 7 draws ? Cwmbran in finacial problems ,but there has been little news filtering up North ,will require some research.
Grange Quins v Caernarfon
Grange are defintely better at home .I have a soft spot for Caernarfon who have been unlucky this season in a few games. no bet yet.
Haverfordwest v Porthmadog
Haverfordwest have financial problems but were unlucky last week to draw with Rhyl [ last minute Rhyl equaliser] .Players are leaving this club so up to date news is essential for this fixture ,their website is good.
Porthmadog my home club have drawn 4 out of 6 and the other two had dubious penalty decisions which changed the results from 1-1 to 2-1.
This could be a draw as well.
Rhyl v Newtown
Rhyl are not playing well this season after their excursion into Europe , Newtown are playing well apart from their surprise defeat to Cefn. I saw Rhyl against Port , they were the better side but did not impress me .Could be tempted by the away win here

Sunday's match
Newi Cefn Druids v Llanelli
Cefn have surprised many people this season , they have had 4 draws , reported as being a boring side ,surprise defeat by Grange .They were lucky last week to get a draw at Caernarfon [ my bias showing again ]
Llanelli with the Spaniards have had some good results at excellent prices at the start of the season , bookies have caught up with them now . I prefer the home win to boring Cefn here.

Will keep you posted on any team news as the weekend approaches

Re: Welsh Premier League Oct 14/15/16

News for Sunday's match
Newi Cefn Druids v Llanelli

Quote:
Llanelli midfielder Efren Fernandez will not kick a ball again this year after he broke his leg during Friday night's win over Aberystwyth.
The Spaniard was stretchered off after a rash challenge 10 minutes into the game and was taken to Morriston Hospital. He is not expected to return to training until after the New Year.
That comes as a bitter blow for the Reds who are gunning for Europe this year.
That win over Aber was their first league victory in four games.
Assistant manager Peter Nicholas though says his team has grown in confidence and are looking forward to Sunday's clash with Newi Cefn Druids.
"It was a tough game and a good win for us," he said. "We have got stronger from it although Efren's injury was a major blow for us.
"The win lifted us and now we are confident of putting away the chances we are creating. We can't wait to play Newi on Sunday."
Francisco Jose Dominguez Rodriguez - the latest Spanish import - is expected to lead the side after wearing the captain's armband in his debut last week.
A Cefn bias report from Wrexham Mail

Quote:
NEWI Cefn Druids aim to continue their encouraging start to the season by beating full-timers Llanelli on Sunday.
Llanelli's transition into only the league's second professional club have brought five Spaniards to the club.
In contrast, Druids manager Dixie McNeil has a fraction of what Llanelli boss Peter Nicholas has at his disposal.
But that hasn't stopped the Cefn Mawr team from being just one point behind the South Walians coming into Sunday's encounter.
A 1-1 draw at Caernarfon Town on Friday means Druids sit in 10th place, having lost just one of their opening seven games.
However, they've only won one as well, with five of their outings ending in draws.
Yet that shouldn't have been the case at Caernarfon, as for long periods it looked as if the Wrexham side was going to leave with the points in the bag.
McNeill's men dominated the first half, with Ian Andrews, Matthew Cook and Marc Griffiths all going close.
But the breakthrough came five minutes after the restart, when Andrews slotted home from the penalty spot after Caernarfon player-boss Wayne Phillips had handled in the box.
The goal sparked the hosts into life, but they could seemingly find no way past Druids' Slovakian goalkeeper Peter Pahulyi.
Yet that changed 13 minutes from time when substitute Dylan Owen fired in an unstoppable 20-yard drive.
And it could have got worse for the visitors in the most bizarre of fashions, when, in the final minute, home stopper Paul Pritchard's long clearance sailed over opposite number Pahulyi but, luckily for Druids, it hit the bar.

Aberystwyth v Welshpool Town
News from Aberystwyth website
Quote:
Town have boosted their defensive options with the signing of ex-WPL Afan Lido midfielder Matthew Driscoll. Driscoll has been playing as a central defender for Merthyr Tydfil and will provide more options defensively. The Seasiders, who have also added Caernarfon Town's Jonathan Foligno to their squad, are still searching for another striker and Burrows has confirmed he has put seven day's notice on a Welsh Premier frontman. Martyn Griffiths told ATFC.org.uk, "With Burrows and Aneurin Thomas struggling Foligno and Driscoll might well be handed a start this Friday night. Driscoll is also on second forms with Barry Town FC. The search for a striker is still on, and we will be talking to someone shortly. We are hopeful to sign this player soon."

Re: Welsh Premier League Oct 14/15/16

Alright traeth Ive felt shamed i aint been in and that mae me stay away more. It was just an indication to me of how shite i am at getting things together in my life and couldnt fund my bet365 account.

Hows it all been going? You all winning?

Looks like the wheels are falling off Llaneli's expectations. Spanish broken legs etc. Welshpool i like still. I like Aberysyth too though i suppose. Bah i miss all this Traeth but it just depresses me knowing i cant get on. Pointless really as im driven by the need of a return. There will always be a special place in my heart fr the welsh Thread in TDP history and i will return home to it and graze in the years to come.

hi komp nice to see you back here encouraging me.
last week got to include the welsh games in the TC thanks to swoop BUT Caernarfon let me down so that I could certain to remain last.

komp your better off risking your money on the Scottish matches , the knowledgeable boys in the Scottish threads are much more predictable than these welsh clubs [TNS excepted].

off to get some gen on tonight's matches

Re: Welsh Premier League Oct 14/15/16

the quotes from the daily post

Aberystwyth v Welshpool Town

this is an away win for me , getting tempted to place a bet on Welshpool following reading this report on the player who are missing -Morgan and Hughes are important players in Aber's team.
Yes Welshpool for me

Quote:
Meanwhile, Aberystwyth Town boss David Burrows did not mince his words after this week's 5-1 Premier Cup exit at Caersws. Burrows admitted the performance had given him plenty of food for thought before tonight's home Welsh Premier clash with Welshpool Town.
"It was the worst performance since I've been with the club, it was shocking," he said. "We've got to put it right, and quickly.
"If we play like that again, then I will be out of a job and so will the players."
Aberystwyth will be without skipper Bari Morgan, who continues to be troubled by a calf strain, while Burrows is also doubtful.
Sion James is suspended for three games while Glyndwr Hughes is still not fully fit.
New defender Matthew Driscoll is in contention.
Welshpool, managed by former Aber boss Tommi Morgan, will be out to keep the lead-ers in their sights following a creditable start to the season.
Craig Wilkinson, who has not featured this season due to injury, could be on the bench after coming through training this week. Mark Roberts, however, faces up to a month on the sidelines after damaging ankle ligaments.
Airbus UK v T.N.S.

TNS @1.72 was too good to be true now 1.53 with bet365, at that price will give it a miss but I still believe they will win tonight.
If Airbus' player manager becomes injured I believe they will collapse , but will have to wait and see on that one though.

Quote:
AIRBUS UK player-boss Gareth Owen is calling for another resilient display when his side tackle TNS in tonight's Welsh Premier clash at Broughton.
The Wingmakers have soared to fifth this season under Owen's leadership, and showed their resolve when battling back to earn a 3-3 draw at Welshpool last week - despite being reduced to 10 men.
"We'll be out to show that TNS are not invincible but it's a big task as they are full time and superbly organised," said Owen.
"The lads have shown plenty of character this season, and they'll need to do that again to get anything out of the game.
"But the draw against Welshpool was a testament to how far they've come this season, it showed the spirit in the side."
Forward James McIntosh misses tonight's action as he starts a three-match ban after being sent off at Welshpool, forcing Owen into one change to his starting line-up. Full-back Andy Thomas is again likely to be on the bench, following his return from a knee injury.
TNS, two points clear at the top, will be looking to tighten their grip following a five-match winning run.
"If we can get a good result it will put pressure on everyone else, but first we have to make sure we get the three points," said manager Ken McKenna.
"It's going to be tough as Airbus are doing well this season and will make it hard for us. But the pleasing thing from our point of view is that we've now got almost everyone fit and desperate to play."

Connah's Quay v Bangor City

The big news last week for Bangor fans was the signing of Lee Martin ,the report below notes that he will be absent and replaced by a 17 year old.Bangor have let defender Eifion Jones go to local rivals Caernarfon.Could C.Q. score this week , as they have been struggling to hit the back of the net.
I cannot pick a winner here - must mean it is a draw

Quote:
KYLE JONES will be hurled into the deep end by Bangor City against Connah's Quay Nomads in a bottom-three scrap at the Dee-side Stadium tonight.
The 17-year-old will replace Lee Martin in central defence as the former Manchester United star is unavailable.
Wirral-based Jones, who was at Chester City's academy, has had one previous start for Bangor in their 6-0 romp at Caersws on September 24.
Bangor's boss Peter Davenport said: "Karl did well in that game, when he played alongside Paul O'Neill, and we will have that same partnership again at Connah's Quay.
"The lad is perfectly capable and I have no worries at all."
Midfielder Chris Priest is an injury doubt, because of a calf muscle strain, and a decision on whether he plays against Nomads will be left until late on.
Davenport added: "This is an important game for the two clubs because both of us are looking upwards and we know that a couple of wins would project us towards a mid-table position, where we would be close to the front-runners."
Nomads have renewed confidence after halting a run of five defeats last week.
The battling 0-0 draw at Port Talbot Town was Nomads' first point of the season and manager Nev Powell is hoping they can build on that result.
"It has given us a boost and we have to carry that on against Bangor who surprisingly are just two places above us," he said..
Powell is trying to sign striker Chris McGinn from Bangor, but doubts whether any move will materialise until after the two clubs meet. Midfielder Craig Hutchinson is facing a late fitness test after picking up a knock against Port Talbot.

Re: Welsh Premier League Oct 14/15/16

Carmarthen v Caersws

Carmarthen are a good side and should win this match .
Porthmadog fans who saw Caersws draw against Port last week say that both sides were poor with Caersws abilty to score negated by their poor defence.Caersws scored 5 in the cup midweek against Aber who scored 6 last night.Caersws lose midfielder Venables due to 3 match ban

Quote:
CARMARTHEN TOWN boss Mark Jones believes Caersws striker Neville Thompson poses a threat to his side's unbeaten home league record today.
After a dismal start to the campaign, the free-scoring Bluebirds have started to fly with Thompson bagging five goals in three matches.
Caersws beat Grange Quins 5-3 in the Welsh Cup, drew 3-3 in the league at Porthmadog last week and thrashed Aberystwyth 5-1 in the FAW Premier Cup in midweek.
"Thompson will take some watching," said Jones. "He's a tall lad with plenty of pace who is scoring goals for fun at the moment.
"We've all been waiting for Caersws' season to start and it seems they're up and running with 13 goals in three games.
"They are always a competitive side, who are used to going on good runs after bad starts, so we will have to perform well to beat them."
Carmarthen will be without strikers Craig Hughes (groin) and Danny Thomas (illness) as Caersws seek a first league victory at the eighth attempt.

Grange Quins v Caernarfon

I am going for an away win here , Caernarfon too strong for the Grange and as the report says have already beaten them in the cup.

Quote:
Paul Giles is demanding more from his Cardiff Grange Quins team as they prepare for tomorrow's Vauxhall MasterFit Welsh Premiership home match against Caernarfon.
Manager Giles is frustrated with inconsistencies shown by his team in their first season at the top level of Welsh football.
'In many ways it's been a terrific start to the season and we've been great at home,' said Giles. 'But we can't stop conceding goals away.
'There have been too many individual errors and they have to stop or I'll have to make changes.'
Caernarfon come to Cardiff Athletic Stadium for the second time this season tomorrow, having already been beaten by Quins in the Loosemore's Cup first round.

Cwmbran v Port Talbot

Paul Bonar has made a rapid exit from Cwmbran after just two months at the club, due to reduction in the players wages. Cwmbran played very defensively last week to lose only 1-0 against TNS.Port Talbot 6 draws from 6 have been low scoring could things change this week or are we going to see the 7th draw on the trot? Draw for me

Haverfordwest v Porthmadog

A stat that could be of interest - Since Port have rejoined the Premier league 2 seasons ago they have yet to score a goal against Haverfordwest in 4 games.Parry returns to replace injured Hughes , keeper Harvey and striker Owen are fit for Port.
Haverfordwest see the departure of midfielder Tim Hicks to Aberystwyth Town because of their financial problem .
This could be the time to get a win against Haverfordwest for my home side , but I think it will be a draw.

Rhyl v Newtown

Two of the top four meet at Belle Vue with Rhyl aiming to close a four-point gap on Newtown and record only the third home success over the Newtown in seven matches.
Rhyl recent form has been poor with only 2 points in their last 3 matches and they lost in the cup.Rhyl's manager has said that there will be changes to the team but will not announce until 1 hour before the game [getting team news in this league is very diffficult- now it is getting worse ]
A difficult game to call . Newtown's skipper and top scorer Barton used to be a Rhyl player so he will be trying his best to score .No injuries reported from Newtown.
Could this be another draw ?

My only bet for today will be Carmarthen v Caersws 1@ 1.72
