Re: Traeth's Welsh Premier Thread
T.N.S. [1]v Haverfordwest[7] 1/7 5/1 11/1
I have just said this recently "Anyone going against unbeaten TNS is daft"
2005-11-19 Haverfordwest - Welshpool 2-1 -second
2005-11-12 Llanelli - Haverfordwest 0-1 -fourth
2005-10-29 Haverfordwest - Caernarfon 2-2 -fourteenth
2005-10-22 Newtown - Haverfordwest 2-3 -third
2005-10-15 Haverfordwest - Porthmadog 1-1 -fifteenth
2005-10-08 Haverfordwest - Rhyl 2-2 -sixth
11/1 with bet365 is a large price for a side that can produce the results against the top clubs home and away.5/1 for a draw for the cover.
Rhyl 0 v 0 TNS was shown live on t.v. last Friday. Rhyl hassled TNS throughout the match and did not let them play their usual game. TNS did not look like they would conceed. It was just an average game to watch .
Can Haverfordwest give TNS a shock?
We've got a few days to ponder over this one.
Rhyl are equal on points to Haverfordwest who have better current form than what Rhyl had.
These were the prices offered on the Rhyl v TNS match last week
Rhyl v T.N.S. 4.00 3.40 1.72

I agree with you on the Haverfordwest site komp , informative and impartial.
I saw brief highlights of Haverfordwest v Welshpool match on t.v..Haverfordwest were playing attacking football but were very lucky in injury time, it could have easily been a draw.
this is the south wales [Haverfordwest]press version of the near miss by welshpool.
Quote:
|
The home fans braced themselves for a late assault from the second-placed side, but it never came. There just one heart-stopping moment, when Peter Blain fumbled and Welshpool substitute Aiden Shannon, faced with an open goal, shot wide.
|
this is a north wales [welshpool ] press version of the same incident.
Quote:
Trailing 2-1 in injury time, a long range strike from Calvin Davies looked to have crept over the line after keeper Peter Blain had failed to hold.
But Pool's claims were turned down and top scorer Steve Rogers put the rebound wide with the goal at his mercy.
|
If Haverfordwest try to play football against TNS I see them losing , they will have to play in their faces and not give them time to control the game.
komp I have posted on the welsh thread at bookiebuster and given TheDailyPunt a mention , they appear to have two or three who post a few lines there. Would be nice to see them here wouldn't it .

bet365 ,interwetten and gamebookers have welsh footie mate .
if you need a connection , Aberystwyth [ you showed interest in them earlier in the season ] have a new manager .
Brian Coyne , a fellow scot , being in this league a few years ,one of the best managers at this level , has a slightly different accent to the locals on the west coast of Wales ,one of his comments when interviewed on t.v. was " i hope they understand me when i am shouting at them!".I remember him saying once that one of the first games he saw was Celtic as a youngster.
I can see them improving with him in charge , their brief highlights of their weekend game showed them as the better side that made 3 or 4 chances that were not finished. I can see them winning this weekend.

Re: Traeth's Welsh Premier Thread
Good stuff and i noticed your post over by Traeth. Its good to talk Hopefully i can turn up and put a wee link in but they look pretty mean on spammers. I was just reading this. Soz it aint relevant to this week but its a good read for any uk football fan.
Quote:
LEAGUE OF WALES HISTORY
The League of Wales was formed in 1992, being the first National Football League in the principality to encompass Clubs from the whole of Wales. It was a long-standing dream of the Football Association of Wales to have its own National League and many would agree that its formation was long overdue.
However, better late than never, nineteen Clubs embarked on the inaugural campaign on the 15th August 1992, which was sponsored by Konica Peter Llewellyn Limited of Swansea. After a very exciting Championship race, Cwmbran Town, managed by Tony Wilcox, pipped Inter Cardiff for the title and became the first League of Wales Club to play in Europe when they took on Cork City in the UEFA Champions Cup in August 1993. The 'Crows' won the first leg at home 3:2, but due to losing 2:1 in Cork, were eliminated on the away goal rule.
Bangor City won the Championship for the next two Seasons in 1993 / 1994, Inter Cardiff being again runners-up. That title was decided when City won their final League match 2:0 at Porthmadog in front of a then record crowd of 2,200.
Afan Lido finished runners-up the following Season, having made an impact on the League by winning the Cup Competition in 1992 / 1993 and 1993 / 1994. The Aberavon based outfit were unfortunately relegated at the end of the 1995 / 1996 Season, only to gain promotion back into the League two
Seasons later.
The next four Seasons were totally dominated by Barry Town, who won the Championship on four consecutive occasions and the League Cup, by then sponsored by James Gilbert Limited. Three times 'The Dragons', under the guidance of player / coach Gary Barnett, were almost unbeatable domestically, and also had an excellent European campaign in 1996, beating Dinaburg from Latvia and Visutas Budapest from Hungary, before going down 6:4 on aggregate to Aberdeen. Over 6000 people attended the second leg at Jenner Park. League runners-up during the four years of Barry Town dominance included: Newtown in 1995/96 and 1997/1998 and Inter Cable Tel (Inter Cardiff) in 1996/1997 and 1998/1999. Barry's long reign as Champions came to an end at the close of the 1999 / 2000 campaign when they lost 2:0 at Connah's Quay, Total Network Solutions (Llansantffraid) becoming only the fourth Club to win the coveted League title. The "Dragons" regained the following season and retained it Season 2001/2002. In the summer of 2001 Barry became the first League of Wales club to win a UEFA Champions League tie when they defeated FC Shamkir from Azerbaijan. Barry retained their title in the 2002-2003 season, but unfortunately did not repeat their European success of the previous year and after a trumatic 2003-2004 campaign, they were relegated to the Welsh Football League. The season saw Rhyl FC win the Championship for the first time after a long struggle with TNS. The match between the two sides at Belle Vue in Easter Sunday drew a record crowd of over 2700. The Lilywhites certainly had a season to remember winning the Welsh Cup and the League Cup, which was sponsored for the first time by Loosemores Solicitors of Cardiff.
The League has a new sponsor for season 2004 Vauxhall MasterFit succeeding J.T Hughes Mitsubishi who backed the competition for the past two seasons.
The League has seen numerous players move into English competitions over the years, notably Mark Delaney from Carmarthen Town to Aston Villa via Cardiff City. Andy Cooke from Newtown to Burnley, Lee Trundell from Rhyl to Wrexham and Eifion Williams from Barry to Torquay. Williams who was a prolific goalscorer in the League of Wales, moving from Caernarfon to Barry for £25,000, being unchallenged as the Leagues leading marksman until his move to the West County, where he scored a hat trick in his debut at Plainmoor.
Only six Clubs, Aberystwyth Town, Bangor City, Caersws, Connah's Quay Nomads, Cwmbran Town and Newtown, of the original membership have played in all ten Seasons, while three founder Members, Afan Lido, Haverfordwest County and Llanelli have fought their way back after relegation. Only one Manager, Mickey Evans of Caersws survives from the twenty who entered the dugout in August 1992, while Jimmy Blackie holds the record for League appearances, the majority of which were for Cwmbran Town.
This League has had its knockers and critics but has doubtless enhanced the stature of its Clubs, through higher playing standards, better facilities and far more media interest. Long may it prosper.

Re: Traeth's Welsh Premier Thread
Caersws v Newi Cefn Druids
1.72 for the home win looks good as Caersws are improving , while Cefn are getting worse
Carmarthen v Aberystwyth
An away win @ 4.33 is a good price buyt Carmarthen's home record of 2-5-0 , indicates Aber will have a diffficult task.
Coyne is starting to make his presence felt with his new signings
Quote:
|
Aberystwyth have made two new signings, Manager Brian Coyne has signed two players from former club Cwmbran Town ,6'5" striker Tom Billings and 23 year old defender Ross Lloyd are the latest players to arrive at Aber
|
.[ this from Haverfordwest site]
Carmarthen get some good results away ,it seems to suit their style of play ,they have drawn 5 at home ,wll have to have more time to consider.
Porthmadog v Cwmbran
I fancy a home win @ 2.37 in this match,it is the draw that we've got worry about ,Port had a good win away last week against Caernarfon and drew with Connah's Quay the previous week,C.Q. were unlucky against Cwmbran according to THIS match report. Cwmbran have lost their manager a few weeks ago due to financial problems and are losing more and more players .Below is from Welsh Premier League website.
Quote:
FOUR more players have left Cwmbran Town as the Gwent outfit continued to struggle financially.
Central defender Ross Lloyd and striker Tom Billing, who joined the Crows this season, have followed former manager Brian Coyne to Aberystwyth Town as the new Park Avenue boss bids to strengthen his third-from-bottom squad.
Midfielder Kristian Dimond has joined Port Talbot Town, while striker Kaid Mohamed links up with Carmarthen Town.

In tonight match can Connah's Quay get their first win in this derby match?
C.Q have not had any luck recently and have struggled to score this year, but Airbus defence has been poor recently. From what i saw of C.Q. they did not look a relegation side but did lack confidence.I do fancy them to win but not enough to have a bet on them .
no bet

TNS v Haverfordwest County
Sat 26 Nov 2005: Home - Treflan MATCH OFF
A ROW could well be brewing after Haverfordwest called off their trip to Treflan at 9.30am this morning.
With no overnight frost at Treflan and a temperature of 6°C by 10.00am, the pitch is perfectly playable.
The pitch at Porthmadog is O.K. , weather is rain , the only problem would be gettting the opposition here. This one should be on .
Sat 26 Nov 2005 Port Talbot Town v Rhyl FC 14.00
Sat 26 Nov 2005 Bangor City v Cardiff Grange Quins 14.30
Sat 26 Nov 2005 Porthmadog FC v Cwmbran Town 14.30
so it looks like three games

Re: Traeth's Welsh Premier Thread
Port Talbot Town [5]v Rhyl [6] kick off 2:00
Port Talbot were unlucky last week in their first defeat in the league ,early form were draws , which is the reason that they are not higher up the table.
Rhyl's performance against TNS last week was a confidence booster for a class side. These two teams are level on points but in h2h Port Talbot have lost the last 10.That h2h statistic has pushed me for an away win.
Rhyl @2.0 with Interwetten , only 1.8 with gamebookers and bet365
Bangor City v Cardiff Grange Quins
Grange got that first away win against Port Talbot last week , from what I saw on t.v. highlights they were lucky.I cannot see them winning at Bangor.
Bangor will have youngster Gowans making his debut today, he has been scoring freely in the Gwynedd league.Bangor were an excellent side last season and have had a poor start to this season even though they are only 3 pts behind 4th place.A Bangor home win for me
BANGOR @1.5 a poor price
Porthmadog FC v Cwmbran Town
The price on Port today is 1.8 when it was 2.4 at the start of the week.Port have only lost two league games this season but are 14 in the league because of their "ability" to draw.I believe that Caughter [ a scoring midfielder] is back today, last week's away win will have boosted Port confidence .
Cwmbran's financial problems have resulted in their manager leaving a few weeks ago , now some of their better players are leaving as posted earlier. It is this that has resulted in the change in price of a Port win.
a home win for me
Porthmadog @1.8 - not such a good price as earlier in the week
