Re: Non League Weekend 26th Nov

Ive had a proper look now and although still a pretty quiet coupon (I think the Conference is priced up on the button) theres a couple of potential bets in the Southern Prem...

Team Bath v Cirencester @ Evens

Yate v Hitchin @ 5/4

Both of those deserve a bit of research. Team Bath looks a particularly decent play to me.

Re: Non League Weekend 26th Nov

Haven't really yet got stuck into the fixtures but from a first glance, I'd suggest to everyone to STAY WELL AWAY FROM Stevenage Borough v Grays Athletic. Is there possibly a more exciting match this weekend? Two of the in form sides in the country so could go either way. For those who prefer the safety bets, no risks involved, Accrington Stanley and Aldershot certainly have to be home bankers I would have thought. Halifax maybe worth a little flutter away at Scarborough but is by no means, going to be an easy task for them. Woking @ 2.62 to bt Dagenham & Redbridge has also taken my eye but apart from that I cannot really see anything else in Conference.

Absolutely nothing to say about Southern Premier fixtures this weekend. Nothing at all in the four matches that could tempt me whatsoever. Pretty much the same in Unibond Premier too. Possibly Frickley to overcome Radcliffe Borough but @ 1.53, I'm staying well away - far too short for me. Another possibility is North Ferriby Utd to pick up maximum points at Witton Albion. They're 2.62 which could be worth a small amount. Lincoln Utd v Wakefield & Emley is an absolutely dire contest, which, again, could go any way at all. Too poor poor sides playing one another.

Have to agree with Mr Muzeman that this weekends coupon is very quiet indeed. May have to direct my interests to the FA Trophy....

Re: Non League Weekend 26th Nov

Big Dunc looked a little lonely in here so I thought I'd post my thoughts...

Agreed not the best weekend coupon i've seen. Looking at the Conference only one stands out for me...my local team Crawley (local but I'm not a serious fan). Based on recent home vs away form this isn't a bad bet...

Crawley have won 3 of their last 5 at home (all 3 wins were by a clear margin and the 2 losses were to high-flying Grays and Exeter).

Gravesend have lost their last 2 aways - to bottom-half teams Aldershot & Tamworth.

But an additional (I believe positive) factor is that Crawley have just appointed a new boss after a very unsettling period - ex Chelsea Manager John Hollins. Even if this doesn't have an immediate impact recent form suggests Crawley have a good chance of the win, but if the much discussed 'New Manager Syndrome' does prevail then so much the better!

William Hill offer a standout 2.37 for Crawley, I'm on that straight away for 2.5pts.

Re: Non League Weekend 26th Nov

Nice one gents. I don't usually get involved in non-league (apart from my season bet on Weymouth that is -Looking good AMP ) but I'm tempted to give it a go this week.

Re: Non League Weekend 26th Nov

Cheers ODM. Picked up a 12/1 cover on Welling this week as cover but as suspected they're (Muff) going to buy there way out of that league at all costs.

I've had an exam today so that's the reason i've been a bit quiet of late. Just had a scan through the coupon again. At first it looked rather dull but i'm gonna be looking into the following:

Woking, Tamworth (small), Team Bath, Gloucester, Merthyr and Whitby.

I'm off now to get drunk. Later.

BTW Burscough are still 9/2 for the Unibond. 3 games in hand, 8 points behind. Excellent management team. I'm already well into them but if anybody wants to tie some money up for a while it's a cracking bet IMO.

Re: Non League Weekend 26th Nov

The Conference National is my favourite league betting-wise at the moment. I got 3 out of 3 last weekend at odds of 7/4, 15/8 and 10/3 (it doesn't happen too often so I have to show off!).

There are three value bets this weekend in the Conference imo -

Aldershot v FOREST GREEN 6/1

There is no way Forest Green should be this price with Bet 365. The other bookies have priced this one about right at anything from 10/3 to 4/1. Forest Green are a far better team than their league postition suggests and had this match been played six weeks ago, Forest Green may even have been favourites. Aldershot are on an improved run but I cannot see Forest Green's disappointing run going on for much longer with the team they have (and they are full time). A longish shot but this may be just the sort of match that they could nick - certainly not the home banker that has been suggested.

Canvey v CAMBRIDGE 2/1

Cambridge are starting to get it together and Canvey are one of the weaker (and one of the few part time) teams left in the division. Cambridge had a good win in the LDV against Doncaster in midweek and won their last away game at Morecambe. Certainly shouldn't be as high as 2/1.

Altrincham v TAMWORTH 2/1

Tamworth are improving, Altrincham are starting to struggle. Not much more to say on this one except that I would make this a 6/4 shot.

Re: Non League Weekend 26th Nov

I read today that Tamworth have signed Tommy Johnson. Anyone know if he's still any good?

I could be persuaded to back Chelmsford who are on fire at the moment and looking at the form guide it's hard not to like either betting on them or betting against Maldon. Having said that I did do last week and Maldon nicked a point from top side Staines.

Re: Non League Weekend 26th Nov

Based on BigNev's post above, I've gone and looked into the Crawley game... Except I've not got a conclusion

Crawley Town v Gravesend
Last 6: 2-1-3 7f-9a v 1-2-3 f7-9a
Last 4 H/A: 2-0-2 5f-5a v 0-2-2 4f-6a

Crawley Town have a new manager which might help them here. There are generally a home side this season, and Gravesend have not been that good of late. In those last four home game stats Crawley have lost to Grays and Exeter at home; no disgrace in that. Gravesend lost their last two at aways at Aldershot and Tamworth though with draws at Hereford and Accrington before that. They've also been beaten at home by Stevenage hence their last 6 stats.

According to today's NLP Hollins is going to give his 24 man squad the chance to secure their futures in this game. He may have more of a heritage in the leagues but has Alan Lewer as his assistant who has a creditable non-league track record. I would hope the team they end up selecting want to secure their futures with the side and go along for the ride. This management team have apparently been given until the end of the season so they'll want to make a good start.

Yesterday Crawley signed Tony Scully on loan from Exeter; a pacy winger who is well though of. Gravesend have also got a couple of new loan signings in Omari Coleman (striker) from Lincoln City, and Brett Johnson (defender) from Northampton.

My concern with taking Crawley here, which was my favoured bet earlier, is the danger of the draw as in general the form of the sides is matched and H2H it's 1-1-1 for matches at Crawley (the last being a 1-1 draw). I'll think I'll have to consider this one some more before deciding on which angle to play it from (if at all).

Re: Non League Weekend 26th Nov

Yeah im up for a bit of the old 'new manager syndrome'. I definitely believe it adds extra incentive for the first home game in charge though I dont think so after this initial game.

Last season Crawley at 11/8 I wlda snapped up as they were great at home (awful away mind they were a Jekyll and hyde team last year). With signs of improvement from Crawley and Daryl Clare on the score sheet last game hopefully he can come into a rich vein of form. If Crawley can get their noses infont in this game I dont think theyll look back. I wouldnt be on this at any a lower price than 11/8 tho as id go 6/5.

A word of caution is Charlie Mac(donald) is scoring well for Gravesend this season. You woulda thought hed really want to bag here against the club that released him last season after so much fine work in the previous promotion year.

Any1 up for a Daryl Clare/Charlie Mac anytime goalscorer double? nearly 6/1 at Bet365 Id probly go for that you know actually but they dont let you do doubles on things like that ahh prolly just as well

Re: Non League Weekend 26th Nov

The only other non league game im on is Team Bath v Cirencester @ Evens.

The Uni boys Team Bath have come into a nice bit of form lately winning 3 of their last 4 homes and so nearly beating Bedford at theirs which wlda been a great result. They are 4-1-2 at home so pretty strong.

Cirencester are really bad at the moment after showing signs of promise, usually at home, earlier in the season. Infact this bet is probly more a bet against Cirencester than anything (although Team Baths form is a definite plus). They are 0-1-5 in last 6 games losing to teams like Aylesbury, Gloucester and Rugby - some of the worst teams in the league basically. Struggling for goals too and this turn has seen them sink into the relegation places. They have a 2-1-5 away record.

All in all I have to give Team Bath the nod as Evens is more than nice all things considered and i price them 4/5 tops.

NB -This is a Sunday game
